Fairwell Speach/Party
Traditionally, I would have used the Gazette for such things. However, there are some things I wish to say that have no place inside the paper.
First of all, after writting for 2500 years, it may come as no surprise that even I could use a bit of a vacation. That is why, whith the discovery of the new continent, I have decided to take a bit of a tour. I will see news now and then, but my letters will take a long time to return to Apolytonia as the distance is simply too great for our carrier chickens to travel. I will therefore have to wait on any passing boats to bring messages back. Someday, I do plan to return, but until then, I leave the Gazette in the capable hands of Meshelic.
Somehow, I find it fitting that it was a fellow Hawk who would step up and assume control. After all, the Gazette was originally intended to be a Hawk party paper, but it evolved into the only free press left standing. It is a fitting irony that a fellow Hawk will continue to operate the unbias news source, and home of free speach while the DIA will once again TALK of such things. The Hawks have been called barbaric, stupid, and many other things, but within our small party, one can be assured that we will make things happen. The Hawks are a party of action, and I am proud to have remained as a Hawk, much to the dismay of many a vocal citizen that would hound me of changing/leaving parties.
There are many I would like to thank for making the Gazette so popular and successfull. Many of you know of many who have helped publish editions, or submited articles. Tassadar, jdjdjd, Donal Graeme, Shiber, GodKing, DAVOUT, History Guy, Mr Orange, Reddawg, and adaMada stand out as obvious choices. However, I would like to especially thank skywalker. It was he, more than anyone else, who brought about the creation of the Gazette. With my fifth post ever on this forum he pissed me off so intensely that I nearly left all together, but instead re-focused that energy into creating a more formal effort than that rather pathetic little story. I since came to realize that is just how skywalker is, though, and hold no animousity towards him.
I have been at the center of many a heated debate with some prominant people here, Timeline and Arnelos both come to mind, and these are some of my fondest memories. However, there is no debate that was more enjoyable than Court Case #1. Togas and I had the most enjoyable debate I have been a party to. The only thing that could have made it any better would have been for the court to actually grant both our requests to continue with it.
I truly hope that upon my return, I will be able to engage in many more fond memories. Until then, I will be watching and lurking, but not likely posting due to time constraints. No idea how long yet, 2-8 weeks, too much is still up in the air.
Go ahead and post your hate messages, or rejoicing in my absence here, I am tired of getting them in private.

I remember that first conversation we had via PM about starting the Gazette, and you told me you were going to be impartial and would not let any Hawk involvement interfere with your impartiality. You did that, even though your blowing Hawk smoke in this thread. I hope Meshalic does not stray from that path.
And two questions....
1. How could you misspell "speech" in the thread topic as Editor of this great publication?
2. Where's the party?

I enjoy the Jungle Gazette a lot, and it was my only source of news for a while when I was swamped and didn't have much time for the demogame. You have improved the demogame immensely, both as an editor and as a VP.
Good luck.

Like I said, I wanted to say some things that were not fitting for the paper, hence I can 'blow all the smoke' I want.
1. Spelling is not my strong suit. One glance at any edition would easily reveal that.
2. On my estates in the $ game. All are welcome, Ghengis is brewing up something special from his Duff Breweries.

Truly Unorthodox you are the man! your Gazette and comments elsewhere were what made me decide to join this forum in the first place.
I am proud to carry on this position made legendary by yourself, and for those of you unsure as to the future of the magazine, I will strive to keep it nuetral and un-biased as it was during Unorthodox's time. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, I say.
Unortho you'll be missed.

Enjoy your break. I hope it is as good as the excellent paper you have so consistently put out.

/me hands UnOrthOdOx a small Ivory charm shaped like a banana
This charm will help keep you safe on your travels. Whenever you are missing home, hold it to your heart and you will fell the sultry heat of the Notylopa jungle.
If you are ever in trouble, show this to the local authorities and you will be given the best treatment available. This symbol is recognised throughout the known world as carried only by Presidents of Apolytonia and those few they place in their highest regards. We are a mighty power - the mightiest - and this little charm will get you far.
And if all else fails, it is said in the days of superstition that such a charm, when held in prayer, would call upon the very fAceZ of the gOdZ to aid the holder! Of course we live in much more enlightened times, but you never know......
Take care, friend UnOrthO.
WIA.

Holy ____...
This is truly a surprise (though you did hint at this before)... I would like to add my sentiments to the consensus by saying that I am quite sorry to see your level of activity on the boards drop in such dramatic fashion. However, I can also understand the reasoning behind it and, if it's what is best for you, support it. It would be folly for us to attempt to keep you doing all that you do here if it is in any way detracting from contributions you make in RL to our broader community.
That said, you better come in here every once in a while (or even every once in a blue moon, but still...) to shake things up You certainly have a knack for it.
So best of luck in your RL pursuits - of which you seem to have many of high import. I genuinely hope that you meet success in them - well, except for any involving political opposition to the people I work for... but I sorta doubt that
Good luck, Unortho.

I hope you are to return someday Unortho, you were truly an enjoyable element in this game. You will definitely be missed. I had great fun serving under you while you were Vice President.
