Airfield question...
My apologies if this has been covered somewhere else, but I couldn't find it...
Does anyone how airfields will be treated in terms of being capturable? That is, will they act like colonies, in that they will be destroyed, or will they simply transfer ownership upon capture.
It would make sense if they were able to be captured, and that would also introduce a wealth of strategic options. But, as I said, I haven't seen that question answered.

I think they will be destroyed, but it would probably be better if they were captured. We'll see for sure in a few days.

preferably i'd like it if you could capture them, and be able to sell/buy them!
ok ok, letting sombody station units in your boarders is a bit of a bad idea, but we have ROP don't we.

airfields
you were able to capture them in Civ2... I would like an option to capture them but also an option to pillage as well. Since defending them will be necessary, if you do not have the ability to do so... you should be able to destroy it.

Do you know this or are you guessing? This is a good way for them to work.

don't you know the answer
I suppose we will know soon enough.
That would be a good way to work, and the precedent is set-arty's etc for destruction if tech backward

This is how they are supposed to work if the airfield is in neutral territory. Airfields in enemy territory will be destroyed whether you have flight or not.

Ah, so it will be dependant on location... very interesting. Having them destroyed within enemy territory makes a good deal of sense, though, since rarely in real life do armies get to take over fully functional air fields they can use immedietly.
Following that logic, will players be able to build airfields inside the borders of others? I would imagine the answer is "yes." But, we'll find out soon enough, I suppose!

Ah, just noticed something in the 1.04 patch notes that I hadn't even considered: Will airfields function as colonies on resources? So, will I be able to trudge up into the cold frozen north and plop down an airfield on some oil and have it instantly connected to my trade network? I like the sound of that... especially on the huge Earth map...

interesting. the way i read it is that it would destory the colony and make the resource un-usable.
do fortresses act like that now? (i'm not sure)
