(Official)War Objectives
Our set objectives have just about been accomplished and by the end of the current turn will be done. So do we go on and end joan or do we let her live.

The initial attack went off wonderfully and all goals have been met, however since we have calvary and a wonderful plan to consolidate the new cities, we can go on and conquer france and suffer only slightly from increased corruption. Additionally we will have more chances for a GL and since we will have france's iron soon they can not build anymore pikes. Another item to remember is that once france is gone there is no chance of culture flips. So my recommendation is to end france once and for all.

I was against war at this time, but if we are at war, then kill the ***** and put her our of our misery.

Put an end to Joan's pathetic's misery, and heed the call of the french people (you hear it, don't you?) for a potent leadership under the grace of the great banana!

Absolutely, press on, at least until war weariness gets noticeable. It looks to me as though we should be able to dispatch Joan's pitiful, misguided lackeys in a matter of 3-4 more turns.
We should avoid the temptation to set up a leader farm, however. We definitely don't want war weariness to erode the impact of our golden age.

*Sigh* On principle alone I'm voting against continued war. If it doesn't last more than 5 more turns, I don't really care at this point. Longer than that, and I will go from 'sigh' mode to 'rabid hippie' mode.

my objective will always be...
to crush [our] enemies, see them driven before [us], and hear the lamentations of their women
what I mean to say is.... I'm cool with ending it now

I like Ghengis's plan.
In fact, following our recent acquisition of additional luxuries, obtaining Military Tradition and Ghengis's plan I am now in full support of a complete annexation of France.

I'm not sure, but don't we have more urgent priorities than taking on the weak French? There's not much to gain and it would bring us only more corrupted, angry cities to deal with. We should now focus on other things like dealing with more dangerous enemies, corruption etc.

After the palace move to Timeline the French cities won't be as corrupted.

After all the French cites are taken over and Joan of Arc brought to justice all the French citizens of our empire will be sufficently in fear of us to never rise up against us again.
(At least until the next game.)
I know that this isn't historically accurate, but this is how Civ III works.

I wonder what is Jonny's opinion regarding Ghengis's plan.
Btw, I prefer site 1a because it does not overlap.

Now that we have cavalry, is there a stronger nation we can beat up? If wewant a spaceship victory, we should use our military to slow down our real competition.

The 'stronger' nations apply to Germany, who has the only real military that could probably stand up to ours in battle. I wouldn't recommend war with Germany at this time, we want to keep them at bay diplomaticly. so we don't piss them off when they have their panzer tanks...
I would suggest however war with the Zulu would be highly profitable, (11, yes 11 Gems in small territory, ripe for plucking). I say we take advantage of this.

IF war is in the cards, why not England?
Our Forbidden Palace is going to end up in Contaginon in former Persia... wouldn't it make sense that the nearby English cities would make the best targets?
That said, this is in the event that war is the best option... something I'm not convinced of myself... I just want to make sure that we pick the right target if you guys are successful at pushing for A war.

As far as future wars, I'd say england or Zulu seems like tempting targets. England would be easy, but those gems seem to be saying "take me,take me" and 5 caravels and 15 calvary could do just that. Additionally the zulu homeland would be a big base militarily for us.
I suspect that these wars will be under a new SMC, as I do not intend to run again. Of course I will stay around, hopefully as your new Prez.

Anyway
Kill The French.
We could quite easily from this position also sack Athens if we could do so without taking a rep hit.
Considering our huge advantage over everyone.

I don't dought we could capture the Zulu island.
However, during the war, that's 15 less Calvary that could be adviable for sacking either England or Germany in response to a neighboring country declaring war on either of them.
Moreover it's going to be a drain of our resources to control.
Something like 2 defensive units per city will need to shiped over there (mostly post-war). 4 of the Calvary need to stay there as well.
Leo's has no effect over there, so the defensive units sent there need moderized first. A Baracks will need built there as well for upgrading the defense units when we acquire Nationalism and later Replaceable Parts.
All cities there will have 95% corruption and 95% waste (even with Court House + Police Station) and so everytime something needs built there it has to be rushed.

But... but... GEMS!!!
Seriously, though, we could pull in a lot of tech and money in the industrial age with that kind of luxury monopoly. I don't have the game in front of me, but I believe we are currently exporting all but one or two of our extra luxuries. Just think how much more demand there will be for lux once the AIs have the post-hospital population to need them, and the money (and techs) to pay for them. And, since we would have a monopoly, we wouldn't have to worry about the other civs selling first.

I'm in support of seizing the gems, but I'm hesitant towards the idea of taking all of the Zulus. On one hand, they have only 7 cities and if we left them with a few their culture might cause distress to our cities. On the other, the war would generate substantial war weariness, would take considerable resources which would be away from Apolytonia for civil defense, and would may cost us quite a bit in development and corruption.
We would have a lifetime monopoly of gems, though. It's hard to calculate just how much profit that would result in. Right now we get gems for "free" as we're trading insignifigant techs for them, but such a deal will not last forever.
