advanced city from goody huts
I think there is a new goody hut result: new city founded. I have seen this twice now, and am attaching a save (if it I do it correctly). The scout to the west is on auto-explore, when he trips the hut, it would found a city. Strangely, if you take him off auto, you will get mysticism. The city is unfortunate, as this is an elimination game, which might cause me to lose in a bit.
does this advanced city take the place of settlers, or is it a new result? I've seen it2x in a couple of games, so maybe they've increased the percentages. Or is this an old option that I never got? am i crazy?

It is old, and it sounds like they increased the probability, I almost never get an advanced city in Civ3 (not like in Civ1 and 2)

Haha, well, I guess I've been pretty unlucky in the past then. I've gotten a settler now and then but never a city. Then in PTW I've gotten 2 cities in perhaps 10 games

I got a free city from the first goody hut I opened in the first PTW game I started!
So I'd say odds are good. I did have expansionist trait.
It was also in an Elimination game, so I was worried at first. This bit of luck could cause you to loose the game if you find a city with a defensless scout and a rival civ unit is right close.

but it's good that you get an advanced city this time, does make things a little more interesting

It seems like now I get a free city every other game when playing expansionist. I've also gotten settlers a few times.

What exactly is advanced city? A city with pop 2 or 3? A city with temple/barracks/what?
WHAT is it?

ah no
I misspoke, sort of
I mean, advanced civ, not city. the cities that i've gotten have been size 1, empty. not sure if they are better as time passes like in civ2.

This is actually kind of a cool idea, especially for expansionist Civs, as before they had a sort of handicap compared to say religious or industrious civs, maybe now theyw ill become a bit more useful.

It can be a killer in elimination. Luckily I got away with it tonight.
All the kraut had to do was march 3 spaces and take me out. He didn't. And then they all wondered why my score was so high...
Yep, Expansionist is useless.

You probably have option not to accept like in civ 2. During naming phase trying hitting escape, or downright abandon city after u name it.

No choice in accepting it, have to abandon it.

I always hated that in Civ2, the city was never on a spot where I would found it
