The respawn civ - option, how long will they keep respawning?
I'd like to use this option, but only if they respawn because they were wiped out really early. But do they continue to respawn all game long?

I don't think so. I think that they only respawn it yet to be explored areas. But I could be wrong.

I always hated the respawn and turn it off after it was available. What I saw was they could die once and come back, up to a point. I do not know what that point is, I thought it was a function of the age, but it could be something else assuming land was opened some where.

Doing this from memory, so it may be inaccurate in some ways -- a Firaxian posted the "respawn" parameters some time ago (possibly on CFC).
As best as I can recall, AI civs can respawn: (1) once only; (2) only if there is unsettled land on the same continent / landmass; and (3) only if there is unsettled land without any offensive or defensive (i.e., A/D rating) units within 5 tiles of the designated respawn area. Respawned civs receive a settler, a worker or two, 100 gold, all their previously discovered technologies, all their accumulated culture points, and several military units.

In a new recent game, I was India,
Moscow was taken by the weak japanese, and Russia seemed to respawn north of me, in a large tundra section of the continent.
Nothing else was up there but a camp, so the rules mentioned before seem fairly correct.
It had all the techs (I don't know about culture) so I thought it must have made that city by itself, but it seems it did Respawn, and didn't use the city names it had before.
(does the computer check noother city is named after New york etc , so if 2 civs make new york it won't work?)
I've just stolen Theology from the french (reloaded a couple times though)
its a nice game.. I could upload it, might be good for multiplayer.

you can use it to your advantage, if you get stuck right next to a civ and are lucky enough have quite a few warriors real early from maby goodie huts, you can keep on taking their new citys and grow super super fast!

Yes what Catt said is correct.
After you kill a civ and it respawns, you can diplomacy with them. They will then give you everything they have for peace because you just took some of their cities. Kind of funny.
