Just got PTW!! Now, question about saved games

I just bought PTW at my local EB, (and could resist the PTW Prima strat guide.)

But before I install it, I need to know if my saved games in Civ3 will be ok. Will PTW change the way my Civ3 CD will play? If I want to play plain old Civ3, I use the Civ3 CD, right? But can I play plain old Civ3 with PTW in the CD drive?
