(Write the prefered time for gameplay)

Rules and partcipants are found below.
The first tournament will be made as soon as the players agree to join the tournament.

RULES (standard rules more or less)
Additional remarks:

The Empath Guild is a "No Build Project"

Recommended Max. 4 players per game
and Min 100 turns of gameplay before PBEM

Points :
-Victory 4p
-Co-victory ( max. 2 players, and minimum 4 players
in game ) 2p
-Everything else 0p
-All partcipants in game receive additional ½ p

Suggestions of how to start a game :
Find 2 or 3 players on the list below who wants to ( and can ) play for at least 100 turns , and choose one to host the game.
This communication is done on the IP-Game-com-link-thread: IP-game-com-link-thread
Announce the time when you are ready to play then others can answer and you can start the game.
USE ICQ as an alternative


Report results to ksev ( name of all players and the result ).

Inform ksev if a game change to PBEM.

Drogue signing up. E-mail's akizeta@lineone.net and ICQ 173716353. Can play antime from 7pm GMT onwards most days, but only got 56k connection (probably broadband soon) and for the moment only have SMAC.

BTW my ICQ is nickname akizeta. Havent used this for Apolyton for obvious reasons!

I have updated the list of partcipants...OK that you post the sign-up-info in this thread.

Suggestions for game is welcome...Wednesday/thursday or weekend????
Remember no more than 4 players are needed to start up a game...feel free to do it right away...but inform ME............

2100 GMT is 1600 EST, at which time I will not be able to play on thursday. I will be able to play at like 21:15... I could even possibly be on ICQ at 21:00 but I will still be in class and thus be unable to start a game.

Well, I'll be online up from 21:00 GMT = 22:00 here.
You then may look at ICQ. If you don't have ICQ, send me an email right early. It will be a little difficult with the login then as I've not a fix IP and this means every reboot will give a new one. Without ICQ it may be a problem to tell it (some email server are too slow for such)

We'll start with SMAC and patch 4, except all have SMACX with patch 2.

Argh, I am running winxp and have crash issues unless I install the patch, but other people can't play IP games unless they have the patch installed as well. If you could please download it at: http://apolyton.net/download/smac/pa...lity-v103f.exe

don't publish wrong informaton!
the patch is only for 200/XP user who have problems.
No one with an other windows version should dinstall it!
And, those having installed this patch are no longer compatible to those having patch 4

However, this is a SMAC patch only, not for SMACX!

For (one of) the next game I suggest to use this map, as it is optimal for an IP game.

you may download it at
WOPL map

A special map for IP games. The small continents all have a minimum distance of 2 sea fields to the next continent, so that no easy ground rising is possible. In an IP always the start positions of the factions change, but normal there are never two on same continent at start. All continents have their own advantages, but none has too much reachable at startup already, so that a faction gets a majority advantage at startup. SMAC + SMACX, Standard format 40x80

You are both right...it is balanced...but then again it is a little boring....what about seapower it gives no real meaning in that´world...and there is no guarantee that one will not have a shitty planetfall. I have experimented with maps too and there are a lot of great maps around....but then at the end..one of the great things is...that you don´t know in advance were to move your units and were to put your first bases...in which direction to grow so to say. That is the reason why exploring is such an important thing to do the first 50 turns of the game....that part of the game will almost disappear too when map is known in advance. If it is just to rule out the factor of randomness in the game we could use the PBEM-tournament map from Tau Cetis tournament Map.

I DO NOT SAY: NO....NEVER i just say I LIKE THE RANDOM MAPS in spite of the risk of a lousy planetfall.

Lets see more examples and continue the discussion...maybe a map with a litlle more water.

It's a SMACX map. You are in so far right, as I didn't made this map for Pirates, althought you need the ships there, too.
The special point of this map is, that (normal) all factions will start on a different iland, so you have ~ 10-20 ticks to build before someone is disturbing you, and the starting of the factions points always change depending what factions are selected and in what range they are listed.
The other point is, that all lands have their special advantage, some are unusual and not valid on a random map.
Times ago this was the favorite map for SMACX IPs with 4-5 players. (But I don't force someone to like it ;-))
