Discussion: Amending the terms of office
This month, we had one day from the beginning of the month to the first turnchat -- not enough time for the polls to close. This led to a debate within the turnchat on whether to go ahead with Wealth, which was leading in the polls, or continue with the status quo until the polls closed.
I chose the second option, which I previously had endorsed. However, this reveals a possible flaw in the Constitution -- only Directors can post polls, but my term of office in this case didn't begin until the day before the turnchat.
I can think of two ways to solve this, by amendment. Either let Director-elects post official polls, or make the terms of office automatically begin on the day the elections close. I prefer the first option, because it preserves the symmetry of each term beginning with a new month.
So, I'd amend the Constitution to allow Directors-elect to post official polls, which become valid after they're elected.
Thoughts? Comments? Criticisms?
