Official Poll: Map Specs

Should we have all random specs (land mass shape, climate) like we did for the Civ 3 Demo Game, or should we specify them? 7 Days.

To wit: Continents, 60% water, Normal, Normal, 4 billion years.

Though having climate or temperature as random would be fine by me.

Only point important to me... make it Warm. Less tundra and less chance of one of the teams being totalled by a 'So Cold'(tm) start.

I'd like to see an archipelago, after considering an archipelago game (post in who wants...) I think this would make for more interesting and multifaceted wars, and more diverse overall game strategies. Although I have to admit that I love boats, large naval battles, and overseas colonization so I am a bit bias.

Random..as far as map size, if they dont patch up the game to increase the speed, I dont want to play on a huge map. Even if we are only playnig a few turns at a time, it means a lot more time will be taken to move stuff around.

Close race!! We should pick a small map, so the game is not stretched out forever and is impossible for a small group to play. The map's qualities can be random, though.

Not random is the way to go (I just love wet+warm. There is still oil as the map builder manages to give 2 resources of each type per Civ)

Hmm I think we should have a poll on wether we should be having all these polls !

I voted for picking map types, sorry trip

I think we should try and make the map as fair as we can for the teams, so no one team has a greatly improved starting point than another.
Maybe we should have continents with Minimal water coverage, warm and normal rainfall.(limits annoying jungles but gives some cool rivers) and Middle Map age, too many mountains means some civs get land that can't be settled , though its fun for defensive combat.

Perhaps we can turn off disease if theres a jungle situation imminent (too many M's for this time)..

Its fun to have lots of rivers with floodplains, but i don't think it should be the full Wet level.

My first Civ game was in a 30 by 30 tundra wasteland!

NEVER again.. but i managed to become the biggest civ still.

Archipelagos should be considered.. they make the most interesting maps, with PTWS commercial docks harbor cities will be more useful. Maybe with minimum water coverage they'd not restrict civs too much.
