this place went quiet quick...
Ok, granted I haven't been around much lately myself (the election and all) and tonight is the most free I'm going to be until sometime on Wednesday (only because we got back early from our bus trip)...
but, man did PTW suck the life and soul out of this demo-game... First, 3-4 major voices quit... Second, PTW finally comes out and quite nearly NO-ONE is posting here anymore...
While I know a lot of people are probably busy trying out PTW (guilty as charged here as well) and their posting energies are being expent on the PTW MP intra-site demo-game area... still, that isn't going to start for quite some time yet and THIS demo-game is still on-going!
So I guess I'm just wondering if a lot of people are moving at just giving up on this SP demo-game and converting to MP or whether they REALLY intend to do both concurently.
Personally, I'm totally cool with continuing this game - we're just getting near the industrial age. The game is FAR from over. But if no-one is going to play... well, I dunno.

I haven't been nearly as active as I should be, but school has really put a cramp on things. I also have PTW, but haven't touched it since Friday night (got it on Wednesday) since it is in a fairly dismal state.
RL has really gotten busy as of late, but I still consider myself to be here.

Exams...girlfriend... moving out...going to Australia for summer...losing high-speed connection in one week...
All this means I am a shell of a President ATM, but I am not being lost to PTW - I will no longer have access to a computer by the time it reaches NZ.

School mostly. I do check this forum several times a day and I for one wouldn't like to see us disband this game.
Haven't gotten PTW yet, btw. I'm waiting for several other books and games to come out and then I'll make the entire order from Amazon or another dealer.

I've noticed this as well. Since the PTW site came up, practically nobody has been posting. No big deal, I mean, I'm going to get involved with the PTW Demo games but for the time being it seems like a good thing here suddenly burnt out....

I'm here, but with very little time. School's a killer, and things are catching up to me . Also, all the time I am spending needs to go into things like the Gazette and the Directory, both of which are far behind. Add in the $-minigame, and a newZupdate that badly needs to be done, the reduced time I do have here suddenly doesn't seem like that much...
Hopefully, next term'll be better .

Enlist some help ada. You do not want to get over-run, over-wrought, and fed up.

Could be, triggered by PTW.....
I had though that It was slowing down Alot. I was begining to think that I was the DG version of the Omega Man. Then I had gone to 'Polys main Civ III page and had read that PTW WAS out (along with it's first patch hours after it's release). I had then starterd wondering if we had just voted in a New Con, just to have no one to play it.
I see that I'm wrong (somewhat), but there is still some discussions (and decisions) that need to be made before the turnchant tonight (3 GMT = 11 EST; I just hope it doesn't last until 4, my time).

A pain (and a joy) I know all too well. Take care Mr Mom.
I will be returning in a few weeks, don't worry. The Excitement of PTW will also subside, don't fret about it too much. The game has gone in cycles, losing activity, gaining, losing again...that will continue.

Working 70+ hours a week trying to keep construction going befor winter conditions hit.
Plus grad school classes
Plus teaching ceramics at the community collage, along with running the kilns on the weekends
Plus hockey season started up, and I am a Red Wings Nut.
At least the girlfriend dumped me so I can get some sleap every now and then..............

I am guilty of devoting much more time to the set up of the PTW DG and have not been posting here as much. Sorry, but, Like Ada said, a forum directory is alot more work than I originally thought it would be. Its not like I was vitial to this game anyways. I hold no position of power and all I do is stick my nose in other ministers business....
I will continue here though... my role of RA has changed to a primarily RP thing...

Damned anti-Civ girlfriends, mine starts up every time I turn the game on. I think she really does hate the game… at least she’s away a few nights a week
I guess world conquest is a male thing.

Yep, in fact, if it sometimes seems I have multiple personalities, it is because she occasionally will log in as me here...can't convince here to get her own account, though.
She don't like to talk all that much, though.

absentee-ism
my interest has waned abit due to PTW and the inter-Poly game setup. This game has reached a point where, without a huge blunder on our part, its a lock to win it. We started in a seemingly impossible location on emperor level and have managed to become an uncontested superpower by the middle ages.... I don't know why, but the prospect of actually losing holds more appeal for me than a sure win.
Anyway, crushing the AI under our boot just isn't the same when the prospect of doing it to humans is so close

Ortho, you've certainly hit on a facet of life that 99% of the people here never will, I congratulate you.
Large beaurocracies tend to turn me off to things. That's partially the reason I left in the first place. However, the prospect of setting a new one up for the PTW Demo Game is too enticing (as is the chance to crush all of the most famous members of Apolytonia).

I have been here but have found little to post about. The game at this point is in calmer times. I see things picking up when we hit the middle of the Industrial era. I am still having a blast and wouldn't even consider leaving.

I managed to get my girlfriend in college to start playing civ... she actually was playing it a good bit until she got hooked on The Sims... she played little other than the Sims since that oh well
I also knew at least two other girls in my dorm at school that were avid civ2 players. One of them now works in national security here in the DC area.
So they exist

Where do you find these people?
I only know one person who plays Civ 3 and one person who plays Civ 2 in real life, and they do so rarely.
