please wait....
Has anybody been waiting here for a while for your turn to end up? My usual time of waiting is around 2 minutes minimum on each turn. Anybody know how this can be fixed? It's for Civ III without PTW (that's been ordered of course ) and I have the newest patch installed. This waiting is a real pain...

Get a faster computer, maybe?
Civ is just a slow game, I think. There's lots of computation going on. It generally takes less time on smaller maps, of course.

For a huge map with all civs playing, it can be the computer, even if you think it is a powerful beast. Try turning off all the animations, that usually helps.

Right after the intro on the Menu Screen, click Preferences and there you will find lotsa options you can turn off. Aim for the "Animate something", while leaving "Show something" options on. It may help.
