I would like in. What were you thinking for the difficulty level?

prolly make the AI's easy or the next one up unless anybody has any objections.
right, just need one or two more players, everyone who wants in should post their email address and preferred Civ
andy.burchill@softhome.net
Rome
also post your location and timezone if you know it, I am in the UK, GMT (this is so we can work out the quickest order of players)

I might would prefer something closer to regent or monarch but I'll wait to see what others have to say.
My email is ruby_maser@hotmail.com. I'm in the US, Central Standard Time (CST).
edit: I would like to play Egypt

(Drop the nospam. from the e-mail to get my true e-mail address)
How about accelerated production?

EPS, you need to start determining the game parameters. Are we talking random everything or typical settings?
I've never done accelerated production, but I'm open to trying it.
Another question: how is diplomacy handled? I haven't tried PBEM before. Are all trades, etc. to be negotiated in external emails?

Basically in accelerated production the "boxes" are all smaller. (The values of the terrain don't change) Research is cheaper. It interacts in a funny way with the easier difficulty levels, where the boxes are already smaller, so if we choose it, we'd probably want to run regent or better.
I really don't have a strong feeling for AP or not AP, just throwing it out as an idea....

ok here goes, if anyone disagrees with these then feel free to post what you would like
game mode : standard
turn timer : normal (this shouldn't affect a PBEM game shoudl it ?)
world size : standard
barbarian activity : sedentary (this is how I always play but I am open setting it differently)
land mass : may be we should have vote ?, randomn is fine, I wouldn't mind continents either tho
water coverage : randomn
climate temp and age : randomn
difficulty : regent
I would like to play a game with out accelerated production if everyone is ok with that, realise it will take longer but still, may be we vote on this as well
remember to post your location and timezone, I am hoping to get at least a turn a day (hopefully)
we have got 4 players, shall we lock the game now ?

I'm happy with all the settings. I think all the weather/terrain options should be random...makes it more interesting in the early/exploratory parts...you don't know if you're stuck on a tiny island, or a vast continent or something in between.
"All Victory Conditions" means all the "normal" ones, not the elimination/princess/victory points/regicide ones, right?
My timezone is US-Central Standard Time (UTC -6).
I'm guessing Eps is on GMT/UTC or UTC +1? Putting you about 6-7 hours ahead of me.

parameters
sounds fine with me... I might like some barbarian activity but everything looks good to me. I'm cool with no accelerated production if that is what you were originally intending, and as for locking the game, thats up to you; we could always let one or two more, but that may slow things down abit.
last but not least, how many AI were you thinking?

These settings will be fine. I vote for 3 AI. (Randomly chosen of course) I'm in the Eastern Time Zone, and, on the weekdays, I will generally be able to check for turns in the evening (say 7pm to 11:30 or so) and the early morning (6:00AM-8:00 AM).
Lookin forward to it!

Ignore this, I've sorted it now
right so the order should be...
Eps (GMT)
ruby (CST)
freaelin (CST)
Gyromancer (EST)
has anyone else hosted a pbem game in PTW yet ?, i have been going thru it but not surprisingly the manual doesn't seem to correspond with the UI.
it says that you should be able to "add human player" and a dialog box should come up so you can enter the palyer's details.

I suspect its similar to hot seat, and that's how the hot seat operates.
I found the interface for hot seat somewhat counter-intuitive..probably because the y started with the network play interface, and just modified it to accomodate the hot seat and PBEM play.

name :
formal :
noun :
adjective :
title :
and then asks for gender
does everyone want to add these details ? or just leave them blank ?
if you do then post them here

If you leave them blank, it'll fill them in from the Civ. We might want to fill in the name and leave the rest blank (it'll fill it in).
Unless you want to "maintain flavor" in which case we should leave them all blank.

just my name in the blank is fine by me. does it dictate the order of play by the order you put the names in?

Name fine for me.
I don't know whether order of entry determines order, or if it's order of Civ, or random . I didn't actually play hot-seat, I just messed around and started a game, to see how it worked.
