CNN now gives the Rep. a 48-46 lead in the Senate, though I can't figure out who won since I posted last.
They also say that 36 Governorships are up for grabs, but their totals are:
Rep: 23
Dem: 15
That adds up to 38 if I'm doing my math correctly. Wait, let me take off my shoes so I can get a more accurate count. Yup, that's 38.

CNN just declared the House majority to the GOP. 219-196-1, with 19 undecided.

I'm still up awaiting the MN returns. Coleman is leading 52-45, with 30% of precincts reporting. It looks like Talent will probably take Missouri, 50-49 (95% have reported).

You'll be waiting all night. They had to uses paper ballots for senate race in MN. That's whythe senate total are lagging behind the other races in that state by 15-20%.

SD is going to go first, then MO, and finally MN - REALLY looking like a "Red" sweep. A historic night, really.
Especially in the South - If the Democrat reading of the election is a "return to the roots" (i.e. a Hard Turn to the Left - and many of the pundits are already predicting this), then they'll lose every seat south of the Mason-Dixon line come the next election.

CNN has declared Allard (R) the winner. Foxnews just reported that the leading Democratic pollster (Harry something) has told Daschle that the Missouri race was lost.
CNN is also saying that the Dems have to sweep the last three races (MO, MN, and SD) for the LA runoff to give them any chance of keeping the Senate.

Fox just declared Missouri for Talent - The Republicans have taken back the Senate (immediately, I might add - Carnahan cannot participate in the lame duck session that starts in the next few weeks!)

Go Republicans...
An impressive display tonight. Never before has a president's party done so well. Hmmm, the last time something similar happened it was to Bush Senior, and we saw what happened to him
Let's see what our Party does with the victory.

....and somewhere in the dark the phone rings.
"Yeah", mumbles the Vice President as he struggles awake.
"D!ck! We won the Senate. Now can we invade Irag?" asks the President.
"Just a minute George, let me wake up Condi and see what she thinks."
A pause. Bedcovers rustle.
"George, Condi says its okay with her if its okay with with Don Rusmfeld. Goodnight George." The phone line goes dead.
The President contemplates in the dark for a second.
A pause. Bedcovers rustle.
"Laura, when you and Don get a second I want to talk about Iraq."

I take it this is really a nationwide vote of confidence for Bush' leadership, including his foreign policy. He now has the backing (and the ability) to press harder on international issues.
Here's one European hoping for even clearer commitment of the US in international affairs.

Even a national victory only numbs the loss at a state level here in Illinois. A Chicago Shill is now running the State of Illinois... sigh...

Time to go to bed. As things stand now, the Republicans have a 50-46 lead in the Senate with 3 races left to be decided. Louisiana will be decided in a run-off on December 7th, so no news will be from there tonight. Currently (3:30am, EST) the other two races stand like this:
MN:
Coleman (R) leads Mondale (D) 50-47, with 59% of the precincts reporting. Coleman has led throughout, with his numerical lead slowly rising through the night (he now leads by 34,000 votes).
SD
Thune (R) leads Johnson (D-incumbent) 50-49%, with 89% of the precincts reporting. Thune's lead has been widening for a while, though it is still only 4,400 votes.
The last prediction of the night: Republicans win all three states, making their Senate lead 53-46-1. I don't think that betting on US elections is allowed in Vegas, but I bet you couldn't have gotten odds on the Republicans picking up 5 seats.
Jim Jeffords, eat your heart out!

Hmm... the guy I voted for Governer (Green) got .7%. The Lib candidate got 1.5%.
The guy I voted for US Senate (Lib) got .8%, and the Greens got .6%.
And the guy I voted for the US House (Lib) got a very impressive (all things considered) 15.5%, although it's true there was no Republican candidate in the race.

Hey, it could be worse. About a decade ago, I voted for a Libertarian in a Mass house race who got 69 votes. I'd have thought a candidate would get 100 votes just through random error.

Seems the Democrats took a real beating, people just didn't buy into them anymore, they need some major reform.
