If AC was open sourced, could we do anything with it?
How many coders are still around here anyhow?
Could the bugs be fixed?

Uhm... well... I think that the bugs could possibly be fixed, no problem at all. Just check what the modders did with CTP2. And that was only with slic language, not open code.

You mean if Firaxis released the source and let people do whatever with it? That would be nice...
Such a project would have to start with the user interface. Facinating game, awkward gameplay.
There is an effort to make a open source game loosely based on AC, although it's still in pre-alpha and will end up looking much different from AC. You can join the discussion right here on Poly.
