Yes, the new screenies are pretty nice. I like number 1, that shows the zoo. What they need to do for SimCity 5 is allow people to import their creations from Zoo Tycoon

I am a little worried about the region concept in SC4. I like it and am looking forward to it, but I do not want to have to build up each city in a region every time. I hated doing that in the Sims when I just wanted to play one family I had to go set up others so that I had Sims to interact with. Why can't they give you the option of letting the computer control the other cities in the region enough so that you can worry about just one city?

I definately agree with you about the "multi-family" bit. I kind of felt like a was a social worker or something, feeding the nhbrs crumbs a little at a time. From What I see right now, I don't think it will be THAT bad with SC4, but we'll see..

The way I read it you can have a Region consist of as little as one city screen. Any connections that link to outside the region will connect to SimNation in the same way they always used to. You just won't be able to build a bedroom city or massive seaport because the national demand will be balanced so you will be providing the bulk of the jobs for the bulk of the workforce inside your single cell.

I haven't read this, but that is good news. I like the region concept and see myself using this from time to time. But I also want to just play one city. If a region can be one city I will be very happy with that feature. Glad that Maxis is considering that and hope they do that with the Sims 2.

It doesn't look like it, I'm afraid .. unless I've missed some big news or they've been keeping it a big secret.

I just downloaded the new fansite pack. The only difference is, there's 1 wallpaper included, a wallpaper not avaliable through normal download at the official site, so to use that wallpaper, you have to download the fansite kit... but it's a real nice wallpaper (It's not like the other two wallpapers avaliable)

The problem with arcologies is that they were pretty cheap and small in land size (as I remember, a Zoo ned more terrain!!).
Also, a great thing could be small police, fire, school and hospital (just a first aid office?) for small neighborhoods. I always diliked this "metropolitan-size police station" with 8 floors.

That's right... as soon as you could afford one arco, you'd soon have enough money to build arco's all around the city...

You're not the only one who didn't like those... Maybe they could have an possibility for those schools, departments, etc to grow in size, depending on how many people lives in the neighborhood...

Yes, it was a problem, but by doubling or tripling their cost it can be easily solved.

...and make them use more space. One arco, was the size of a normal skyscraber (is that word?), while there were room for 65,000 people...

I thought the whole concept was cheap, and kind of cheesy. Arcologies kind of turned it into an "endgame" situation, just trying to manage the massive pollution (sound familiar?). For me it detracted from the concept of SC being a "software toy". It always signalled the end of an organic city. Think you for your time.

Yeah, that's how I feel about it. If they include arcos, they should be huge, and real expensive (And huge means, at least 10x10, but preferly bigger)

Well, I'm glad archologies won't be in it. I thought they just made the whole game wierd.

Very nice articles.
I don't like the looks of the advisors too much, but hey, I hope I won't be seeing too much of them
Now, the architecture article is real nice.

I don't believe I have ever heard arcologies advertised in SC. Were they some kind of half-hidden easter egg, meant for a suprise?
I think arcos are a nifty add-on that looks nice. It's hard to implement a city within a city. They would have to be huge and expensive.
The only arco-like project I've heard about is the Biosphere Project.
