PBEM slow !
Hi,
I would like to set up a slow PBEM. one turn per week per player. you should have the 1.04f patch and check your mail everyday.
Thanks, to leave a message in the forum or to send e mail to me if you are interessed.

I think Civ3 is a 500+ turn game, so you might want to start out with more than one turn a week. Like a fast start. maybe even a hot day, where gamers will try to play many turns, then when it gets more complex to slow it down. I could go for that.
btw just got PTW today. Nice, just for the inhancement of the single player game. Didn't know I could just continue the game I am playing and have the new movements and additions. kewl
edit to add: I am having problems with my single Civ 3 game freezing in PTW, but have heard it is not suppose to be any problem. And others have continued the game in PTW without problems.

This would be good, but I agree the first couple of turns should be "hot days" where we play, pass, play, etc.
Waiting a whole week to just hit the "end turn" button because your only warrior got killed by a barbarian uprising would be a let down.

Ill take this up then.
4 players, small map, other settings open to debate.
Soon as we get another player, we will go.

How about GodKing?
Are we going to have AI?
My favorites:
Wet, Temperate, Middle Aged (whatever its called)
(Those are map settings not my preferences in the opposite sex)
Mod suggestion: Change the irrigation enhancement on Plains from 1 to 2 (irrigating a Plains tile adds +2 food instead of the standard +1)
It's more realistic and makes for more even gameplay.

I've never made r useda mod before, perhaps you can start it if people want that?
Ill ask GK, and am open to 4 AI (one for each of us). Im a random all player, so maps don't make much difference to me. I am rather enjoying the mass regicide, though.

That one little change to plains irrigation makes a HUGE difference in even gameplay. I've tried a lot of things but that really equals out the starting positons which makes a MP game better as someone doesn't drop out early because their falling way behind.
Mass regicide would be fine by me and so would 4 AI.
What civs does everyone want to be? What civs should we have as the AI?

So you can mod the game, and the save wont alter other saves? Mass regicide I'll give it a try. I would prefer random tribes.

I don't have a problem with random tribes or anything else but I would really like the "wet" setting because it allows for more rivers.

lets not mod the map, if we keep the map on "wet" mode the irrigation will work it out. Beside if you wana go fer absolute fairness we can play on symetrical maps (like long distance relationship etc) but even those maps aren't exactly tile by tile fair.
As for civ choice, I'll have to think about it. I'm thinking maybe carth, china or possibly japan.

Hi All...
If this game is not already full..I love to join in.
I am Ok as random for everything
Except barbarians .. I hate those guys !!
Any Civ, but I like the Chinese or Japanese the best.

Sorry just been a bit busy last few days.
Just checking: Current players would be
UnOrthOdOx
Calc II
Hot_Enamel
GhengisFarb
Correct?
Random Civs
4 AI players
Wet Climate,
all else random?
What Difficulty? And I need addresses.
Mine is SirUlias@AOL.com

My Address is
hot_enamel@hotmail.com
Any Level is AOK for me...(Except Deity)
Whatever settings you decide on is fine with me.
Happy with Random Civs...if people prefer to choose, I like the Japanese...but random will be fun.
Edit - If you want my suggestion on difficulty...How about Monarch -

Unorthodox, I understand You are caught up in both C3DG and PTW DG, so I won't push you too hard. I am not really in need to rush this game either. I just thought most people dropped out without my awareness... My Email is Jkim199@hotmail.com Email when you guys want to play.

I want to start this this weekend...lets see, I'll go get Ghengis' E-mail (though I am fairly sure he is in my address book at home) then we can start.
Anyone object to Monarch? Too easy? Gives us a nice little AI to utilize... And, Starting Order?
I normally play at Emperor, but usually lose there. (just won my first game on Emperor, and am on the way to a second win)

I am happy with any starting order...
I usually also play emporer..and can win 75% of the time...(it all depends on my starting position)
Currently playing Deity..Tiny map (4 civs)
Its just me (Chinese) and the English left..
We have equal territoy, but they are at least 6-7 techs ahead of me. They wont trade, and I am stuck in a monarchy.
I am happy with any settings chosen (random or other)

Heard from Ghengis,
He is still interested but will be out of communication for roughly 3 weeks end of Jan/start of Feb. Personally, I don't see too big a problem with that, with the length of this, it is to be expected that we all will be out of touch for some time. I myself will be out for a few weeks in may sometime, still no finalized details to that trip. So, are there any objecitons? If not, I will begin this tomorrow.
Also, I am planning to DL the patch before starting this, any problems with that?

UnOrthOdOx,
This weekend has turned into a busy one for me..RL issues....(Wifes birthday)
Also, my PTW CD has gone astray...(I had a LAN party, and I assume a friend picked it up)
I can still play by downloading a no-cd patch but I can only find it for version 1.04f
So...
Can we either hold off on the patch upgrade until I get my PTW CD back, (or a 1.14f no-cd hack is available).
If everyone else upgrades, then perhaps put me last on the turn schedule...I should be able get my PTW CD back soon.
I am happy to start this weekend...its just that I am stuck on 1.04f for now

Don't have it as a goal to have 1 turn a week. That will kill your games. Seek the higest possible turn-around and take what you can get.
In CTP PBEM, we tries to keep a 24-hour rule. You have to play within 24 hours after you have received the turn.
Here you can find CTP PBEM rules version 2 discussion thread: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...&pagenumber=1.
The second post holds a link where your can download a draft of the rules.

No objection to new patch
No objection to difficulty level
No objection to slowness/delays we might encounter

Have found a 1.14f no-cd patch, so I am ready to rock & roll..
Meanwhile, in RL, I will hunt down and kill the "pal" who swiped my PTW CD
