ok, i am having fun on monarch level, walking over the "empire" of france with my beloved gothic swordsmen.
then i discovered fudalism. why the hell do i get those crappy medieval things instead of the swordsmen????
how can a worse, less expensive unit make a better unit obselete?
i don't have the patch yet, does it fix this?

No it is part of the plan. Obsolete units are not available any longer.
