Ping - required for IP games? Anyone from Firaxis please?
Sorry, I know this isn't the right forum but the Help forum doesn't get much traffic and I really need a definitive answer, preferably from someone at Firaxis.
My ISP has recently disabled ping. Apparently, they believe that the level of pinging is bringing their server down. Now, as far as I know, a lot of computer games use ping. And playing computer games is a good reason to want a cable connection, I believe. It is for me and my son, anyway. I can't get SMAC or SMAX to work at all, either using direct IP connection or going through a host games site. Is it ping? Does it require ping to work?
I have sent an inquiry to EA and, as usual, received no response. In fact, I've never had a response to any support query submitted to EA. So if anyone from Firaxis is reading the board and can give me a definite yes or no response, I'd really appreciate it.
