Official: Exploration and Intelligence 2195 orders
3 units this time, 2 of which are still under construction.
A scout in the south of our territory...still had order to go for the pod.
A probe foil under construction on the east coast.
And one on the west coast
Vote for your color, poll lasts 2 days.

Instead of directly going to the pod, may I ask you let the southern scout first explore some more of the black area? I'll need to know what's there pretty soon if I want to organize decent colonization polls. You could reach the black area soon by going west two tiles and then following the river course upwards.

I'd like to point for the east probe foil that the heightmap shows a small island between the red and yellow line.

OK... more yellow then IMHO, straighter route to the base.

agreed, infiltrating is the top priority for that foil.

But then you could just reload (^_^)
just kidding...
yes, what I should have said would be "grabbing any pods along the way whenever it is safe to do so."

I propose we wait until we can use a transport foil to collect the pods. AA's and free rovers (no ogres in SMAC, bummer) are excellent finds that would be lost if we used the foil . . .

Dude!! You mean ogres like the old micro-game by Metagaming?
How else could we have survived the late '70s/early 80's?

Don't forget that Origin made the Apple ][ game of the same name -- too bad the never made G.E.V. There was a cool game that deserved a little more respect

i don't know much about the 70s/80s
but in SMAX they're theoretically left over from the progenitor's first mission or something
Mk1: 6r/3r/1
Mk2: 12r/8r/1 *2 (IIRC)
Mk3: 30/12/2 *4 (IIRC. VERY rare)

You can say that again, I have yet to unearth a Mk3. All the pods are gone by the time the ame would dole one of those out . . .

bRr: They even took the series a little further, with some GEV expansion stuff.
SMAX ogres: d'oh! I saw 'em in the manual, but haven't actually played SMAX, sticking to SMAC 'til I upgrade my hardware. I've got 300 MB left on a 2 GB hd and run SMAC without sound or project movies.

Considering that probe teams take a while to build and move to place (we now know that the base at the end of probe yellow and red path belongs to the Hive), we should consider continuing build orders at TBIBTU to construct and launch a second probe from the northeast shores. Yang likely has at least two techs we don't, and one probe trip must be to infiltrate datalinks.
If we are running knowledge by that point, the probe could be lost int he process. We cannot afford the setback or wait to gain gatling weapons and plasma armor from our enemy.

I'd go with Earwicker. I can't see an *overriding* need for a former there. I think it can wait and HEC is needed more IMHO.
