CIV 2 in Win 2000?
Help! I'm trying to install CIV 2 on an IBM laptop (with more than enough system resources - drive, memory, etc) to run but I keep getting "error in ir41.dll", but apparently ONLY when I have the CD in the drive. If I don't have the CD in, it'll play fine. I'm at a loss here, and found these forums hoping someone will be able to help out.
Thanks so much!

CFC? Well, I would say that we're as good as they are in troubleshooting. Ming, shouldn't there be some sensorship as he might get bad influences and go to CFC for help?
First of all the problem shouldn't be the OS; Win 2000, as Civ II should work fine with it. However I have a feeling that the DLL error could be related to the intro video of Civ II (OT: Which distribution of Civ II do you have? Original?) as it could generate trouble with the old Win 3.1/3.11 design (i.e. Video for Windows). But this problem is only related to the 16 bit version of Civ II (= original Civ II), so the problem could be elsewhere.

I think that Rasbelin is probably right- since the only thing that the CD gives you is the graphics... all you have to do probably is either download the DLL from Microsoft's site or purchase a new version of Civilization II!

Exactly.
Indeo is a movie codec, so unless you copied all start/end, kings and advisor movies, you'll probably do fine as long as CD is out.
To get movies, go to

Thanks for the info everyone! I'll try either getting the latest video drivers and/or copying the the movies to my game directory.
I'll let ya know.
