Why doesn't gamespy work?

It sure would be nice to actually play this game (besides hotseat and pbem which I have already played)

any advice on when a patch comes out that makes this game work?

I took down my firewall (zone alarm) and the game still does not work

So don't tell me it is my computer or my firewall

Although I did make it to the game set up screen. I tried to select Japan as my civ and the game froze up.

Game no work. never buying Firaxis again.

I'll stick to pbem and hotseat. Online Multiplayer is a pile of crap and will never work.

Well, I've played a few Internet MP games (way laggy, but we played it out till the end), so I think they will get the bugs out eventually.

what kind of ISP do you have? I've heard ISP's may be to blame, but that seems unlikely.

I've used Gamespy for other games like MOHAA and a few others I can't remember. They've all worked with Zone Alarm just fine. But I still hate Gamespy. The whole method of launching a game just to tell me the server is full is so stupid.
