All these different programs!

What's the difference between axstart, terran and terranx? I don't get why there are three programs to get you to the game. I'm confused. Anybody care to enlighten the dumb little computer illiterate guy?

axstart is what pops up when you put the CD in the CD drive. terran is regular SMAC. terranx is a slightly bigger executable that does SMACX.
