conquering cities in multiplayer

hey guys!
i just bought civ3tw and i starteds playing with couple of friends on the net.
we are at play time: 5 hours, so the game is getting along preety well...
any way, the thing is that when i try to conquer an enemy city it razes by itself! (i want to keep it)
i dont know how can i conquer the cities.

btw: i attacked the enemy city (size 4) and killed all the defence there with a swordman or two ( or 5 ) and the city was just razed! -i did it on other 3 cities and they were razed too-

PLEEEEEASEE help me i'm in trouble and i need it!

Are you sure that your 'friend' isn't abandoning them at the last second? This is a legal, but really cheesey move.

i didnt start a war with my friends (yet)

btw: i didnt mention that adfter a city is razed u see city ruins in the squer of that city.

what should i do??????

There are reports that the whole razing thing works slightly different in PTW,
Size 1 cities with captured wonders are no longer autorazed, I've heard.

Maybe some of the allready more experienced MP players can comment on that?
