civ3mod - for PTW?
So I just installed PTW and I tried to go in and mod a few things and i discovered that I ... can't? I looked and looked and couldn't find a civ3mod for PTW, and when I went into civ3mod it only showed the original civs and wonders and such, not the shiny new civs and wonders I wanted to alter. Where is the civ3mod for PTW? Am I outta line in assuming there is one? Help? Thanx.

It's in the Civ3PTW folder, the editor is Civ3Xedit, the mod file is Civ3X. I recommend not changing the Civ3x file though, because patches will overwrite all the changes. Best to use the Civ3Xedit and create a scenario.

In PTW, it is called civ3x.bix. You should never change it. Really, I mean it. Make a new scenario and play that, but don't change this file.

I can't check it out, cause PTW never gets here.
I'm in Norway, and I did order it. Grrr...

I'm working on several set at different points in the European timeline. The beta of the first one (from 531 to 631 AD) is in the making and should be ready for historical confirmation in terms of city placements and available builds.

Shameless plugging time it is then
The BTM is a very nice first attempt at a mod I'm sure the BTM crew will eventually make it big.
In the meantime you may want to check out the Ancient Mediterranean or Double Your Pleasure mods if you want some more challenge.
Sorry guys, I couldn't resist

Ah, but Isak, you know the goals were different. We wanted to change the least number of things to make a mod that we liked.
And the full-up DYP is almost a totally different game (I haven't gotten around to trying the Ancient Med yet, sorry guys, I will).

It's ALMOST a total conversion. But the terrain and civs are both original.
TAM is a bit more total, though, as it has everything changed (though to a lesser extent than DYP), has modded and new civs, and uses sn00py's terrain.
They'er both pretty great mods, I advise everyone to try out both.
The BTM is great if you don't want a whole bunch of new things to confuse you, and want a nice rule set.

Yeah, the DYP is really something to grab hold of.
Especially, the units through the medieval was good.
Many nice choices to do. More modding/balancing on it,
and it would be topping the wishlist.
It's totally different from others, but the AI does'nt seem to handle the new units so well. You will get the advantage...
And some Governments are not implemented in a proper manner.
I hope there are future versions...

I know - I was going for an easy stab in the back, and I've been feeling guilty about it all day. Sorry!
I wish I'd had more time to play the BTM - I will soon, hopefully, but I've been through the changes made and found very very little that I disagree with. So BTM will get an official from me, for anyone who cares. It's probably going to get one more once I manage to play it continuously for more than the odd 20-30 turns.

Almost every day - or at least that's how I sometimes feel
Check out The DyP website for updates - were currently running version 1.02x for PtW, and 1.03x is just around the corner.
