serious speed issues or what?
I am playing PTW, version 1.04 on my P3 600 - Monarch, normal world.
Normally, my Civ 3 turns would be going by ever couple minutes or so in a game like this, but with PTW, I feel like I'm playing on a giantic map. The lag here is almost intolerable. And this is with all animation off too!!! Just a plain ol' random game that is really taking a hell of a long time to finish...
normally, I'd build the UN and get it over with but I pulled that option b4 the game...but I'm almost done with the SS....then I"m quitting this game for a couple days.
Anyone else here know what I'm talking about....we lost a lot of speed to this upgrade..

strange
to me, it seems like the game is speeded up a bit on the standard sized map.
are there lots of cities and units? late in the game?

When I first installed PTW I was having the same problem (also on a P3 600). Everything was moving in slow motion. I developed a couple of other glitches, so I uninstalled PTW and Civ 3 then reinstalled both. Everything's run fine since.

How much RAM do you have? A friend of mine was trying to play PTW on 64MB RAM, and was having major speed problems that made it completely unplayable. This even though its offficially supported on 64MB RAM.
An upgrade to 320MB RAM solved the problem.

Strange because I have never had any speed issues on any system I've played Civ3 on. I originally installed it on a very old system (233 MMX, 128 Ram, Win98). It was still definitely playable. I have installed Civ3 and PTW on both of my new systems (desktop 1.33 AMD, 512 ram; notebook AMD 1.33, 256 ram) and I have had no problems. It must have something to do with the install. I agree, uninstall both and then reinstall them.

For me its like 10 mins per turn waiting for the AI to move, delacring war upon each other etc etc......
I'm using a 1 GHZ laptop and it tends to be pretty slow late in the game.
Turned off all the animation to improve speed but it really takes a long time for all 8+ civs and units to move.
I guess you really need a 3 GHZ PC if you want 1 min turns.......

I've been playing on an 800 mhz Athlon with 128 ram, 24 civs on a huge map of earth, 1 tech away from modern age and the delay between turns is 2 minutes max. What the heck are you guys running in the background?

I have P4 1.7 GHz with 512 mb Ram. Pre-PTW, on a huge map I would have to wait as much as 2-3 minutes between turns when the game approached the industrial era.
Now with PTW, there is almost no noticeable delay between turns. It is MUCH better for me. However, for some bizarre reason, the advisor screens seem to work rather slowly now, especially upgrading units on the military screen.
