IIRC (on the PC) it's the Toccata & Fugue in D Minor

Huh? I thought it was "Ode To Joy." Can't tell, because apparently my Wonder movies aren't playing even though they are turned on (tried a quick cheat on a saved game, but nothing happened).

Straybow, "Ode to Joy" plays when a city celebrates. I think SG is right on the wonder tune.

Oh, I know what has caused my confusion: "Ode To Joy" is one of the Civ2 music tracks. No-CD crack prevents the Wonder movies if not installed on the HD. Anyway, I tapped the avi on the CD directly.
I can't identify the Wonder tune yet, as my collection of organ music is rather spare. It happens to be in the key of D minor, however, it definitely is not Tocatta and Fugue in D Minor (d/l and listen if you doubt).
Try searching for a piece of organ music by composer and key… I gave up.

The PC version of the game definitely does have "Tocatta and Fugue in D minor" playing when you build Bach's Cathedral. I don't know about the Playstation version.

I am no musician, but I will swear that the wonder music occurs about 3 minutes in to my 8 minute track of the T&F in D Minor BWV 565 -- either that ot Bach was sampling himself elsewhere

AHA! I finally found my Virgil Fox Bach CD… the problem is that many times movie producers and CD excerpts (the 2 other records I have) only use the Tocatta, ending before the Fugue begins (like the CD advertizement from which comes the above download snippet). The Wonder movie uses uses only the Fugue, which starts about 2:48 into the 8:46 track on my newfound CD.
Correct answer: the Fugue from Toccata and Fugue in D Minor.
Mr. Doofus Nitpicky strikes again…

Thanks for that Stray - I suspected as much, but my CD does not distinguish the Toccata from the Fugue - rotten Deutshe Gramafon! - interestingly, the Wonder music is of MUCH better tonal quality than my (so called) quality CD ...

They are catalogued as one piece, but the toccata is often played separately and still cited as Toccata and Fugue in D Minor. CDs were originally set up for indices within tracks, but even classical pressings didn't bother to index things like where the fugue starts. Maybe a few CD players were made to handle indices but none are today.
[1], I sympathize. I got some CDs from reputable record labels that were crappy. I didn't know it consciously, only I found that I didn't enjoy them as much as I expected. Then I bought a CD for one recording and found that another track was a much better recording of a work I had stopped listening to.
The problem is that experienced vinyl producers didn't know how to balance the sound for CD. I now only buy CDs I can try out first or have recommended from similarly picky listeners. I'm surprised there aren't full credits for the recordings on the Civ2 CD, they are quite good.
