Gotta love Germany :)
From the Civ3 page:
Quote:
(20 November 2002, 00:06 | Civ3) In the latest in a string of price changes and hot on the heels of an Infogrames Germany (IG-DE) announcement [see related story], Amazon Germany (AG) has lowered their price of the Civilization III: Play The World expansion pack from €35.99 to €35.99. (bolding is mine, Hueij)
I bet PtW will be a blockbuster in Germany whith this price change

Very funny thing about Germany but the game was announced with a price of €29.99 and now the price has gone up to 35.99€. I would have bought the game for the initial price although it would be on the limit of my financial "patience". Now I will just wait for the price to drop before I buy it.

Now with the price already dropping by 0 € I might have to wait a while

So long...

Nice price-drop! I wonder how they can afford to chop a whole €0 off the price and still make a profit?

The next step? They will drop the price even more, from 35.99 to 35.99!

Well, Markos will fix it, I guess.

At least it wasn't a price hike.

MP should have been included with the game nonetheless, so we should be having to pay €0 for that feature!

My apologies for not catching the error in the story myself, folks. It has been corrected. As you can probably tell from our news archive, it's been a prolific month for news already...

If you were understandably confused by the story contents at the time, though, our sidebar with the price listings would have clarified the situation...

I don't think anyone was confused, it's just a good way to get a +1.

ACK!

Now that's pure greed! I wouldn't be buying at that price, I wouldn't be paying a dime above 30€

The going rate is about 1 to 1. Although I strongly disagree with this value since the German Mark used to be mush stronger against the dollar in latter years.

hi ,

the same , actually 1.02 , .....

it still remains a shame

in Paris there are two shops who each had 12 of them , one asked 42.49 the other one 37.5 , ...... they where only 400 meters ( 1250 feet ) from each other , .....

thanks infogreed for your ugly distribution , its civ 3 all over again on that

in belgium there is one that takes presale orders at 39.95 , but they only expect them around x-mas , .....

oh boy , no wonder infogreed is losing money

Firaxis ; remind yourselfs never , ever to work with them again , you are losing big time on money thanks to them

have a nice day , except the people of infogreed

I thought it was around that, but what was being mentioned seemed a bit high.

Hmm, then I guess the 29.95 US that I paid was a decent price. You guys are getting ripped off

I have just had a rant about Infogreed about their practices regarding PtW in the UK and how the delayed it. It is insulting enough to omit MP, but to then start delaying it for no good reason is just a massive f**k you...I will try and avoid this company like the plague in future...

Well that's why the consumer's have the power. I will wait and if lots of people steer clear and wait until the price comes to "reasonable" levels then it we will have gotten our way. Anyway, I think that Firaxis is better off looking for another distributor.

So long...

They didn't have a choice with Civ III, Infogrames owned the rights to it. So they did the game for them. I think in the future they will probably go back to their relationship with EA, unless there was something there that we don't know about.
