Why was the UK release date put back?
I don't understand this: Americans got PTW on Oct 31st (or something like that), whilst the UK was going to get it on Nov 22nd. Now it's been put back to Dec 6th!!!! I just don't understand it. and I can't think of any possible reason for it. It's not like it needs to be translated into a different language (like German). And I'm sure the US version would work with my UK copy of civ3. Does anyone know of any US webstores that will ship to the UK pretty sharpish? I was all set to go out and buy it tomorrow, but the day before it's due release it slips back another 2-3 weeks. This is intolerable. Now I might not even bother.

Forget 'em, I don't intend to buy it because I have decided that Infogrames treats other markets like crap. They were bad enough with the original, which never had civ3. I am not happy that MP was not included in the original, but to continue f**king people over like this is enough to really, really annoy me

Only thing I could guess is either Infrogrames is in more financial trouble then it seems and is having trouble even getting games made and sent out, or they're waiting for MP to patched sufficently so it'll do better when it comes out. Don't think they would purposely avoid a possible source of income, seems illogical.

I'm thinking that too tonight, and I understand what you mean. However, in 2-3 weeks time when we see it sitting there on the shelf will we really say "Actually, I won't buy it now because I'm still a bit annoyed about them pushing it back"?
Well, PH might say that....
If you're annoyed about the release going back (like me) then that must mean you really want to play it. Isn't not buying it cutting your nose off to spite your face?
I could have downloaded the warez version 3 weeks ago (someone told me how), but decided not too because I wanted to play the game honestly. The good guy always loses....
(btw, I'm still not going to get the warez)

I don't understand what happened here either. I'm sure that releasing the game over here isn't quite as simple as shoving tens of thousands of copies on a boat and shipping them over here, but still .... how ****ing hard can it be?
The US versions will run fine for us, we speak and read the same language, and yet we wait 6 weeks longer for it than they do. I can understand a small delay (most games have one) and if they had said Dec 6th from the start it might not be so bad, but why move it back at the last minute? What the **** is going on?
I don't get it.

Well the same happened with Civ3. And there is no excuse for this shipping bullcrap, because we, surprisingly, have the facilities to press the game over here
I would sooner warez it, I resent the one-fingered approach of Infogrames. So sue me!

Don't be annoyed that it was pushed back. Be thankful.
Us Americans weren't that fortunate. We were released a half ***** shoddy peice of garbage, that should have been a patch in the first place.
The multiplayer doesnt' work. You get one new "wonder", and some civ's. Maybe by releasing it late you will get a working product.
Your lucky as far as I'm concerned.

And another thing: if Infogrames are in such big financial trouble, why wait so long to release a product into a larger (i.e. European) market?

Aside from Poly users, which are a minority of Civ3 customers... I think Infog might actually be making a good decision. If they wait and release a later version on CD, then there will be fewer frustrated players in Europe... It is hoped.
It may be a damned if they do, and damned if they don't situation.

www.interactcd.com shipped even to the Czech Republic, so I guess they would be more than happy to ship to you, too. It took the shipment less than a week to cross the Big Pool to here.

I can only assume they are going to ship it with the latest patch here, although ive seen this before, and what you end up with is exactly the same software, and a different cover/set of docs on the CD.
As for me, well, im sick of waiting, so I booked myself on a BA flight to Toronto, will be there on 26th to pick up my copy ...

If I am to buy PTW, it won't be for the multiplayer - it'll be for the new new civs and units, and mainly so I can keep in the modding 'loop'.
btw, Vondrack - tried that site. It will indeed ship to the UK, but $40 is a bit much really. Guess I'll be waiting the two weeks

Still not anxious enough, are you...? OK, wait 2 weeks and then, when it's still not out in the UK, remember the site...
$10 for overseas shipping is just about the least you can get... but I do admit that paying $40 for an XP... one has to be nuts to pay that much.

Here's why I preordered in the UK rather than in the US :
I ordered a US version of Civ3 to be shipped to France :
$45 for the game
€15 for the shipping
€15 for the toll
€? for the bank transaction. (€1 ~= $1)
With PtW being $30, I really didn't want to double the price for me. I preordered at amazon.co.uk (no toll, much fewer shipping costs), and I try to find a pirated copy before it arrives in my mailbox.

Hi ChrisiusMaximus .. Maybe if Id thought about it, I could have got a pot going, and bought a few versions and posted them on when I got back .. from what im hearing, I could have made a few bob and still been cheaper than getting it posted across the atlantic ..
Ohh well ..
The great fear is that Dec deadline will come, and still no game, and then suddenly it will be announced its not being distributed to Europe .. and all hell breaks loose .. so I thought I better get hold of it while I can.
