Markos, when you choose these options does it create a new world for you or are there only so many maps of each choice?
Seems like a lot of different challenges depending on which ones are chosen.

I am impressed! BHG seems to have put a lot of thought into diferent styles of maps.
It looks like there will lots of variety that will create lots of interesting types of games.
I can't wait to try some of those maps.

there are "styles" choices, e.g. a random map with specific characteristics is created. it's not the same map again and again.

Yes, they all sound like a lot of fun. I think it will automatically add a lot to the game. Have you noticed if these random maps are balanced starting positions of you v. the computer? This will make a huge diff as to whether they will be used in MP. It has to be balanced. I like random but everyone has to have an equal shot based on early game starting positions.

no such thing
i noticed an issue with the ai not expanding as much as possible on a certain map style, but there is a lot of work being done on this stuff.

We are working on making sure that resources are spread around random maps in a way to allow all players the same chance at winning. Having most/all of the trees or special resources randomly placed near one player or team is not a lot of fun. As we refine these maps and add new terrain, balance is certainly something we are not forgetting about.

Forgive me please if this has already been answered...
I am a Die Hard CTP-Civer +AOE..so naturally am leaning toward RON..which seems sa-weet!
My question is this..will a person whom mods be able to adjust Map sizes or is that hard-coded?
You can in CTP and CIVIII but not AOE..
I see lots of Maps and was wondering if its possible?
So far so good though..can wait and will most definetly purchase a copy when it hits shelf!
Keep up the great work!

Do you mean the whole world or a region of the world?

In CTP and CV III you can go in and make a Map bigger..say default for Gigantic in CTP is 70 X 140 X 2...I play most of my scenarios on something like 200 X 320 X 2..
BUT in Ages of Empire ..you cannot change the map size to expand to ones desire..or at least that what I have been led to believe..if its so,
please advise HOW because after a few short years of modding AOE I have been unable to
Not what is available in game menu mind you, but actually going into file and "tweaking" map size

The fact that there is a "sea power" map means something many mariners playig civ3 want badly: diverse sea units. This mean fleets, people! woohoo!

Yes, but the borders of a map always are used as defensive points, and an infinite map is impossible, so... edges connected could be great (or a border area where is impossible to build anything and you need to do some diplomatic agreements sorrounding the main territory).
Could be great include an option to connect 2 or 4 edges (also 1 or 3 in unidirectonal/wrap movements for put triggers).

Okay, the Conquer the World scenario sounds cool... hopefully it will add some depth and replay value to the game.
