I noticed markos is implementing a new address for the forums
Very very nice and totally cool
You use apache's rewriting engine or some php ability or what?
You can also access this thread using this address:

Is there a reason that this helps the site with lag or something?

I get red x's for all images.
But why on earth would this be useful?

it's there for some time now and intended for search engines
googlebot refuses to pass through thread pages ending in php. this has some better results

Liker what? Everything is based from the /forums/ anyway, so I don't see how <base href="/forums/"> could do any harm.

You still get better rankings on Google because of your ODP listings, so this new feature only applies for e.g. HotBot, Northern Light, Lycos and Inktomi.

Well, the Pigeon Ranking system won't care about all those forum pages. All Poly links on Google Directory will increase the rating of your site in any appropriate searches (e.g. Civilization, Civ III, Call to Power). If you want to have better overall all rankings on Google, the Pigeon Ranking is much more powerful. You simply need to have many links on other sites to the main page and Google Directory listings will help you too.

it's good to be ranked higher. but you have to be ranked first it's also as good to be in the results more than once

I agree with Markos working on higher Google ratings. You ar first on Civilization 3 searches but not on RoN, where the site is on the second page. If he can help site rating without too much work that I think that can only be good for ACS.

...And considering how many words are used on Apolyton each page... apolyton could easily supplant every other page.
As a side note- when searchign for pictures of lawyers, I received an apolyton link on the 3rd page using Google Image Search
