Text in WinXP
Okay, I just installed the game and patched it in WinXP. No text appears. All the buttons are there, but there are no "New Game" "Multiplayer" "Exit" etc. text on the buttons. The buttons work, but they load textless screen. What is going on here?
Thanks,
Matt

Strange. Do you have the Lucida font installed? That's the one used by the game, I think... should be in the default WinXP installation though...
Another thing I would try is updating the video drivers. What kind of video/graphics card you have?

I think vondrack hit upon it.
The game uses Lucida font and if you don't have this font loaded on your system, you will have no taxt.

still not working
I've reinstalled Lucidia, and updated video card drivers. Still doesn't work. Civ 3 worked fine before installing the expansion, but after uninstalling the expansion, the fonts are missing in Civ 3 too. I tried uninstalling Civ 3 and deleting the directories too. Reinstalling them both didn't help at all. No text...
