The Psilons are humanoid, along with Humans (of course) and the Evon.
I'm thinking a Cybernetic race, personally. As long as the emperor name doesn't default to W. Gates...

In MoO I payed klackon, psilon, klackon, psilon, klackon, darlock, klackon, human, klackon, and Mrrshans or Alkaris when I felt like having a challenge. So I think I'll stick with what is familiar... Klackons. Production. Production. Production... plus I loved these cheap armor techs allowing to build behemoth ships with auto repair.

Since they dropped the Mrrshan (at least for now) I'll probably settle for the space faring primates from earth.
I'll probably add the Mrrshan in by customization. I really hope they get shuffled back in with an expansion pack or with MOO4 though.

I´ve always played a custom race,
but I was mainly scientific oriented.
So I think I´ll take the Psilons in MOO3

I always got the most satisfaction from playing the Klackons in the original game. Second runner up was the Saakras. I love getting my industry up and running quickly, but it's almost as much fun building the population quickly, too.

Harvester, because I'm always drawn to the absurdly evil races.
Sakkra and Klackon both bring up positive nostaligic memories though, so I'll be sure to spin them around a few times too.

For everyone talking about Mrrshan, Darloks, Bulrathi's, etc, and that they are cut from MOO3, and who hasnt read the following from the official forums:
According to the MOO3 storyline, when the faction of the Antarans in the Orion Sector broke off from the antaran empire, and declared themselves to be the new Orions, and called together the new senate, the Mrrshan, Darloks, Bulrathi, Alkari, Gnolams, and Elerians spoke out against the past actions of the Antarans (who had created slave races out of all the races in MOO2 and others). The other races (humans, psilons, klackons, etc), did not speak out against them in the senate.
The races who did speak out were destroyed by the antarans (new orions)...at least the new orions destroyed all of them they knew about. However the new orions only have power in the central areas of the galaxy, not the fringes, so some remnants of thsoe races who resisted remain there...
So those 6 races are in MOO3 as minor races, you can get some of their populations in your empire, but you cannot begin the game as them. There are other minor races too (like a dozen of them total)
So Mrrshans and others are still "in" ...kindof

Regarding which race to play first, I think I'll read the instructions and try to pick a race with good economic and growth bonuses (since production and economy leads to more colonies and population which leads to more tech, which wins the game) I always found that, especially in MOO2, I could out-tech the psilons because of economic bonuses. You cuilt up a better economy and it gave you more tech in the long run that a tech bonus would.
So I plan to play some customized saurian race modified to gain industry / bioharvesting bonuses. (Pop growth + food and industry bonus) and then I'll go from there....
I want to play a few games before I try the Harvesters :-)
I also want to try all the new races, like the Etherians, the Tachidi, the Evon, etc.

Perfectly laudable. I will start my first game with the race most similar to Darloks. Small universe and easy, just to learn the ropes.

I haven't been following what the various races are like, and since I'm not getting the strat guide, I doubt I'll make a decision till I actually run the game.
