Who should control what to research?
Several people voted in the poll to decide the ministers the governement our DG will have.
But some stuff is being discusses and our dividing our community.
One of this stuff is to decide who should control the science and the next advance to research. The only work this minister will have is to start a poll about it some turns before the end of the current research since this should be chosen by the community. Still who should be encharged of it.
Here is a summary of the ministery of our government and their function (I have propositaly not added the science in any of the positions) so that you can decide in which position we should add the control of science.
President
- government type
- Running the game
Minister of Defense
- Military Units except unconventional units
Minister of Domestic Affairs
- City build orders
- City Management, specialists
- City placement/naming, settlers
Minister of Infrastructure
- Terraforming/Infrastructure
Minister of Trade, Science and Diplomacy
- Trade
- Diplomacy
- Unconventional units

Minister of Infrastructure too, if only to make sure we get a solid result this time. I think if we have a poll on the next tech to research it doesnt matter so much.

As I want to have a solid result I voted MoI.
I still would normally give to MoDaT....... He hasn't got so much to do either............

Agreed. It doesn’t really matter who gets it, they’ll just be a puppet to our whims – the community will decide after-all. Minister of Infrastructure.

Just a thought, but shouldn't the minister of trade, SCIENCE (ahem SCIENCE ), and diplomacy decide where our scientific efforts are warranted?

What centrifuge said..
Don't let the one line under MoInfra mislead you, that job, terraforming, takes a lot more time then what the MoTSD has to do now. The DoInfra will be actually the on building up our empire, cities are nothing without farms/mines etc...
And now also giving the DoInfra the power over science is too much IMO.

It's not just a poll btw, if we're going to have turnchats, and by some reason the poll results become invalid (we traded for all the techs that were polled, or there is a tie), the Minister has to decide what to research next.

yep...but there are always amendments possible
We'll have to see at the end of the first term how much the work the ministers have doing their jobs, and then maybe change some things...

In the beginning none of them will really have a lot to do.......... OK, except the Supreme Commander, but otherwise ??????
And the good thing about us here, we can always agree on nothing, even later We are 30 members with 33 opinions

i don't know what our strategy will be, but i think MoDA and MoI will have some jobs to do, we need to know in advance how to name our cities, and where to put them, so as soon as the map is a bit explored, the MoDA can start polling.
If we have a stable PW rate, then the MoI also has to organize polls on what to build first, or at least start some discussions to see what the citizens want.

Lemmy, that's were I suggested as a possible thread, where everyone can post a suggestion (now assuming 30 members), after 30 posts (each member one), we start from the top again. Would be a fair solution and we wouldn't have any problem with names
Edit: Typos, time for the weekend

it really doesn't matter too much who runs it, all the minister really needs to do is present what techs are available and have the people choose from among them in a poll. it's quite easy from my experience
