What does this stuff do?
I haven't bought PTW yet. Can someone tell me what airfields, towers, outposts do? Are there any other notable enhancements of this sort?

Hi.
Airfield - rebase air units
Outpost - sight range of 2 on flat land, 3 on hills, 4 on mountains
radar tower - +25% defense bonus for any units within 2 squares, and +25% offensive bonus I think

Alva's right those extra 2 turns can give you enough time to shore up your defenses. MP is much more revolved around war and sneak attacks than SP. It pays to be paranoid, because the other humans are planning on taking you out and winning.

I've found the Radar Tower to be a very nice addition in SP. I was having a bad time with the French (imagine that) and was able to turn the tide by building a couple Radar Towers only my border. I like the ruins that replace the cities now, too. Haven't bothered with outposts though, and can't imagine I will in SP. And I won the only game I've finished before air power was required.

Hrm I wonder if those units receive D/A bonuses across cultural borders?

I think it's great myself. Get a few of them up in the mountains in your territory and you'll never have to worry about a sneak attack again, you'll see them coming miles away. Well the worth the cost of a worker IMO.

That's what your Infantry is supposed to be for. You can't expect to much from some techie manning the radar equipment. Just back it up with some troops.
