Great- worked out perfectly. 
The Mongols built the Statue of Liberty, switching to a Fundamentalist government!
They will never catch up to us in techs, or ever research anything we don't. A fundy government at this point should dominate all neighbouring civilisations, deminishing our competition.
All we need is an alliance and we will be set!

Yeah, our tech rate dropped from 6 turns to 4 turns. That means we get 3 techs for every 2 before!
