Firaxis: Can we get a statement on the status of the European patch?
I reckon it's a bit shoddy to have this staggered release in Europe, and the buyers not even be able to d/l patches to make the multiplayer even playable. Do you have a schedule for the release of the European 1.04 and 1.14 patches?

Yes, at least we should get some reaction from Firaxis! Why is the European version different anyway? The game language is English, after all.
Hope we get a patch soon and that further patches take the European "special features" into account.

I imagine that you won't hear from Firaxis before Monday as this is a holiday weekend in the USA and I'm sure that they aren't at work.
Why are they different? Ask Infogrames. Thay are handling the European distribution.

You are probably right about them not working this weekend. Personally I would have been working if I knew I screwed up like this. We all make mistakes and it is difficult to get software bug free but an error like this should be responded to immediately. Especially if you just delivered a US version that you had to apologize for.

They sent out the 1.14f patch (which did work on USA installs) and they all left for a short vacation. Remember that some of these guys probably haven't had a weekend off in months much less a long weekend.

When I had the "no CD" problem on Friday evening I e-mailed the Infogrames UK helpline and have just picked up a polite e-mail confirming that the 1.14f patch doesn't work with european versions of PtW and that a european patch is due "shortly".

You make me jealous.
I called and mailed on Thursday to Infogrames Benelux. Still have no reply. By the way shortly, according to Infogrames Germany, means December 3.

Just noticed the nice little comment on the Firaxis download site:

IMPORTANT NOTE: This patch is designed for the US version only and is incompatible with any European version of Civilization III: Play the World.

Thanks guys, that's helpful information
What about the plans to release a European patch?

Well AFAIK, there will be alive chat at our friends over at Civ Fanatics on Friday. Supposedly the whole group will show up so it might be a good idea to check that out if you guys want more details on the European release.
So long...
