Has anyone else had this same problem when editing???
In my previous Civ III rules I had changed a lot of the names of the units and it worked fine after changing the art/unit/ini names. But with PTW I cannot play these same games because it says it cannot locate the new name changes. What I dont understand is most of the units come from the old Civ III files so why is it not working. When I went in PTW to change the ini files these were all new units that I had not modified so there was nothing I could do. Could someone help me please?!?!?!

These kind of changes need to have corresponding changes made in the pediaicons.txt file in PTW. Open it and look at a few units and you'll see how to do it. I'd recommend strongly not changing your master version but rather making a scenario and doing it there.

Everytime I try and open it with any of these programs this is the message I get:
With wordpad:
C:Program
Cannot find this file.
Please verify that the correct path and file name are given.
With word:
The document path or file is not valid. Try these suggestions.
*Check the file permissions for the document or drive.
*Use the File Open dialogue box to locate the document.
(C:\Program\doc)
I even tried uninstalling both games and reinstalling both games with their patches and I still get the same response whenever I try and open these text files.
Someone please help!!!

The civilopedia and pediaicons text files were made read-only with one of the more recent civ3 patches, so right-click on the file, go to properties and uncheck the 'read-only' box.

If you don't change the Civilopedia Entry name there will be no need to do anything.

ahhhh.....ok i finally fixed it. still cant open up the pedia text files but it did not matter. After I reinstalled the game all the ini files I had changed in Civ III were back to normal. For some reason PTW would not accept these changes but after going back to normal it did. Thus all I had to do was import any of my old rules into PTW and I could change any name I wanted without having to open the pedia text files. The way they have set it up in PTW all you have to do is change the name in the editor. After that I just typed in the new Civs and their units and voila!!! I have my old rules with all the changes I made plus the new PTW civs and units.
