Evil Capitalists vs Criminal Aussies
It seemed like a new thread was needed since the discussion of a possible game over Christmas (or is it Boxing Day) was kind of off topic for the thread that it was in. (like any of the threads in this forum ever stay on topic)

So let's continue the discussion here

Let's get three or 4 from each group to commit to a time frame.

Then we methodically pick settings allowing the Rah group to pick the first setting, which will probably be 2x1x. I think we all agree on no city bribe and Rah rules in general, but let's be specific about the other settings.

How's this for a bit of fun...

Rah group player One picks a setting (eg 2x1x)
Aussie group player One picks a setting (eg Deity level)

Rah group player Two picks a setting (eg Small Map)
Aussie group player Two picks a setting (No Wonders)

Rah group player Three picks a setting (eg Large Landmass)
Aussie group player Three picks a setting (Cool, Wet, 4bill)

etc etc, then if necesary work back from the bottom of the group (because the premium settings will have been set) until all settings are agreed.

Once a player chooses a setting, that's it, we all have to agree.

This means all of us will be out of our comfort zone and has the makings of creating a more interesting game.

If the first game is 2x then a return 1x game might be possible with a different set of settings agreed in the same way.

Let the fun begin... a time frame is probably the first thing in order. For those of us in the Midwest, we are like 8 hours ahead of you... and War is 6 hours ahead of you.

Look, I just want to play with my American cousins. The only rules I insist upon is no city bribe, no unit bribe.

It would be nice to get a joint game up but aside from that I might just play in one or two of the normal US games whilst I'm on leave.

Mrs Horse will be working through
LOL!

You boring old fart

On the one hand you say our games fall into predictable patterns, then on the other you can't see the fun side of discussing interesting settings to play a different game!

Unless of course you thought of it and controlled it's devcelopment

Come on Mr Boring No city bribe No unit Bribe WTF, let's get excited!

I'm a firm believer of no city bribe... but no unit bribe, that's no fun.

Most of us play in the evening starting around 7 for some, and unfortunately later for me... depending on the day. For that to work, you guys would have to play late morning early afternoon... does that work for you guys?

Things like no trading/no stealing just slow the game down. And I doubt we'll have a lot of mutually convenient time. Just keep it as simple as possible.

I don't play in games where there is unit bribe. Horse empire troops would never accept bribes. They love me too much.

Well... I can live without unit bribes...

As far as restricting trading, it really does give the first people that meet an unfair advantage if trading is allowed. I have no problem with stealing sciences

but i have a problem with alliances that go nowhere......in the spirit of the game, i don't want this to turn into a us vs them...unless that is what we set it up for in the first place.....

but allowing caravans to walk up to cities is kinda weak..... and the advantages of allinaces are too huge to over come....especially with people who know how to manipulate trade

Spot on War4.

No alliances, kill all caras on sight, proper MP

And Horsie, there will be lots of mutually convenient time over Xmas. Surely us Aussies can play around lunchtime?

I don't think we'd have to worry about an us vs. them mentality. We're so used to going after whoever is convienent that their identity is usually not an issue. Unless you're repaying a debt.

Mustn't mustn't jump on straight line................

Screw it.

If you don't win very often, a strat that worked once is a not only a good strat, but maybe your only one.

Not too sure about that... Rah had me in cities, I had Sun Tzu's-Mike's and was just kicking into a Republic. Gonzo was being beat on in the South, and I was preparing to start dumping vet Crusaders into Rah's territory.

That is NOT being beaten badly.

I have had night where I got pinned early, popped a barb hut and lost my second sett and sat around all night getting hammered because nothing was happening in the Civ game.

Credit where credit is due?

So who's going to play in The Xmas Game?

Rah, Ming, War4, Fox, Spike, deity, Horsie, Hydey, finbar, Makeo, Barono, Gonzo, Andemagne and DD are the ones I can think of that would qualify?

Your Boxing Day/night would be our following morning which is pefect for me.

A good friendly proper MP game I reckon with no alliances and most of War4's suggestions are excellent.

But I think it would still be fun to do my rules thing
