Otto, we will bury you under a mountain of shields
roleplay
Workers unite with your cities. I now call for a few good native son workers to make that great personal sacrifice. To boldly go to the cities by the hills. Go there, join with your urban comrades, build pop, build trade, and most importantly build shields for the glory of Apolytonia. Fear not, for the works you have toiled on for so long will be completed by your bretheren and remembered for generations. The joining of the nation by twin bands of steel is now complete. People will look back upon this day and say that this is not the beginning of the end, but rather the end of the beginning.
Nikita wiped a tear from his eyes as he read and re-read those glorious words on the cornerstone of Hoover Dam. Nikita, like all good Apolytonians that spent their school age years after the Great German Conflict could recite this passage from memory. But sadly, Nikita could not, nor could any of his classmates of yore tell you who was the first to utter those words now carved into this cornerstone and the very heart and soul of the nation.
Yes, the sacrifices of those few good native sons have created wonderous works thruout the land. Wonderous works that spread wealth, happiness, and conveniences to all of Apolytonia.

Because my literary style is most definately not newsie or journalistic. I try to build a very short fictional story with characters raising issues that need to be addressed.
That was the carrot folks, now for the stick. I am deeply troubled by the utter lack of Factories under construction. There are numerous cities that should be buiding them NOW. As an example, I offer the following for The Forbidden City (Contaginon)
This Turn:
Change Current build from Cavalry to Factory
Change City worker from tile 1 to tile 11
Have Field workers Railroad tile 8
Change Build Queue to Cav,Cav, and something to be determined later
Results:
Factory in 6 turns
2 Cavalry before D-Turn
The something else depends on research situation 10 turns into future. Most likely is that Sci Meth will be midway to completion. If there is something that will act as a Shield receptor until ToE can be built, do it. Otherwise do another Cav then the receptor.
E_T, I will be giving similar plans for other Cities in this thread. The next will be G-Town. This one will show what I meant by

Ghengistown Development
1170 ab
Add 2 "native sons" to pop
Change Current Build to Factory
Disband 1 conscript Rifleman for shields
Place City workers 1,2,5,6,8,9,12,13,18,19
Have Field Workers Railroad 2,6,8
Make Build queue Cav,Cav and something to be determined
Results:
Factory in 6 turns
2 Cavalry before D-Turn
Something depends on situation 10 turns out. Most likely is a Shield repository for Hoovers Dam
Additional field work req'd after 1170 ab. Still have 3 mined hills to RR, 2 more tiles to develop, and 2 "native sons" to welcome home. This does not need to complete until just before current build queue is exhausted, which is 10 turns long.

Antioch Development
1170 ab
This one is a little more complex because the hills we want our "native sons" to work needs roads etc
Change current production to Factory
Position 4 slaves or 2 natives on tile 1 to road next turn
Position 4 slaves or 2 natives on tile 18 to road next turn
Railroad tiles 2,4,13 this turn
Mine and Railroad tile 9 this turn
1 native or 2 slaves chop Forest on 14 (1 slave will join 2 turns later to finish)
Change City worker from 14 to 9
1180 ab
road (prev positined), then Mine and Rail tiles 1,18
Add 2 "native sons" to pop
Adjust city workforce so that the net change is the native sons working 1,18
Change Build Queue
Cav,Cav
or
Rifle,Rifle
or
Cannon,Cannon,Cannon,Cannon
or any combination of above to suit war needs
plus something to be determined 10 turns from now
1190 ab
1 additional slave joins forest chop on tile 14 (will complete during eot cycle)
Result:
Factory in 6 turns (from 1170 ab)
2 Cav (or equiv) before D-Turn

Factories
I have plans for instituting factories in our cities. Have you looked at the new save that I posted in the recent chat thread (with 1170 PW already done), It had The Forbidden City (formally Contaginon) already changed from Cavalry to a Factory. It will, however, be building Universal Sufferage after the Factory is completed. THe President aggried that we should do this, and sofar, the Senate agrees.
The Forbidden City will have the Factory built in 5 turns and it should have UnSuf built in 14 turns afterwards. It is currently schedualled to start on Hoover Dam afterwards (if the timing is right)
As for Ghengistown, I have other Rapid growth plans, via RR'ing the Irrigated Grassland, to get a great leap in population. It has a Cavalry that will come off of the line very shortly, then it will go to Factory and then start storing shields for ToE (that is, if we go for Sci Meth after Electricity).
We do have other Cities that will also be building Factories, after the current war prep is completed, before D-turn. I'm Prioitizing PW RR'ing for the cities that are finishing up the current preps. I also have Gheingistown as part of that PW priority.
I have also found a more Efficent way of clearing our Jungle Problems, which Releases more workers to getting the RR's completed.
I have 2 more turns of PW orders to complete, then I'll be starting on the CP stuff. I need all of this up by Sunday sometime, so I'm working as fast as I can.

Feel free to use any of my stuff you find anywhere on Apolyton (except for the roleplay team PtW forum) in the gazette, the Godz updates, or any other Apolyton sponsored venue.
