I need help in playing a turn
My system freezes just after I complete my current turn.
Can I e-mail a "just before" .sav to someone, have you finish my turn, let the AI move, then save at the beginning of my next turn and e-mail back?
(Needs a big rig, my map is 960 x 900 and I'm in year 2422 - I'm running on a PIII 700 with 128 MB, but it's balky at times - like now)
Thanks in advance (oh, and it's a SMAX game)

960 x 900? That certainly is a big map. I do sometimes play on extra-large maps but never anything that size.
Anyway, I have a P3-667 with 128 MB so I could try to finish your turn for you. Please mail it to the address in my profile.

No joy here either. from poking a bit in the debugg3er it looks like an overflow of some kind smashing the stack. Could an index wrapping around, but it doesn't seem like it.
Just scroll the map a bit, disband a couple units or shift-right to move cursor about 5 times and it crashes.

Thanks for the tries, Guys.
I tried an alternate future approach, going back to my last save at 2420, and it let me play the full 2421 and 2422 years again, but wouldn't click forward to 2423.
Ah well
I was keeping notes of the action to see if it might translate into a short story, so the last diary note is:
2425: Meteor strikes Chiron utterly destroying all living, sentient beings
Such is (was) life

Hey, I have an Athlon 700...see how that copes with it. See if a non-Intel processor copes...

OK - I'll e-mail it you and see if you can advance it one more year.
Thanks,
G.
