Comets?
Hey all!
I've been playing MO2 for quite some time now. I was looking through the help files for the first time in my life, and I found some information what one should do in case of a comet. This never happened to me, and I've played the game a LOT. I was curious if any of you ever had a comet thread and you handled it.
On a side note: I've never witnessed a super nova. The scientist always seem to find a cure in time...

Both of these happen. I witnessed two comets during a thousand or so games, so it isn't a very frequent event by any means. Fortunately, I had saved one of these games a couple of turns before it happened, so I could generate a savegame - still occassionaly play that just to see the comt event. Too much Moo2!
As for supernovas, if it happens to you, just do not research in that system and you'll see it happen...

I've run into the odd comet in Moo. Haven't seen one in Moo2 though.
From memory if you have a few warships in the system they gradually take it out a few % a turn (depending on weapon damage and number of ships) until its gone. Don't think I've ever had one impact my colony.

Always managed to avoid comet/nova.
Do they come with video? Like the hydra? In that case I might let comet/nova happen to me.

/me plans on saving a game before the event, and letting it get my colony.
I've never let it hit before either.

Although I'm having trouble finding them in my current game - what with random events turned off...
