Labor Party Charter & Home
LABOR PARTY CHARTER
Preface: Founded in 1220 AD, the people of Apolytonia, who are constitutionally guaranteed their unalienable rights and freedoms as citizens, do hereby organize themselves into the functional and active political party to be known as the Apolyton Labor Party. We acknowledge the legitimacy of the Apolyton democratic governing body, and vow to abide by its laws represented in the New Constitution. In doing so, the Labor Party shall stand behind it’s nations workers, the common citizens, and those who desire to see the greatness of Apolyton achieved.
Mandate
Section 1 - Labor Party Body
Chairman - To be elected every three months, the Chairman of the Labor Party will be responsible for directing party activeness and involvement in Senate motions, encouraging members to run for office, and acting as moderator for in-party discussions.
Vice-Chairman - Appointed by the Chairman, the Vice-Chairman is responsible for the duties of the Chairman in his absence.
Committee – Made up of all the members of the Labor Party, they shall be the true power behind party policies. The Committee shall vote in elections, participate in inter-party discussions, and decide upon additional Party policies.
Section 2 - Policy
1. The primary goal of the Labor Party is to encourage nationalism among the citizens of Apolyton by promoting greater involvement in Senate debates and polls, regardless of whether they disagree with Labor Party agenda. To rally the nation in it’s participation in government decisions, general discussion, and to spur renewed involvement in the designs of their nation, Apolytonia. All other goals fall behind this first, most important one.
2. To promote economic stability nationwide, through foreign trade and internal revenue- generating improvements.
3. To promote a military consisting of only the most elite and technologically advanced units available, with great care taken in assuring that no money is wasted on maintaining less-advanced and less-experienced armed forces who only drain the revenue created by our cities.
4. To introduce “syndicates” into Apolyton. To protect the interests of the workers who mine the hills, build our roads, chop our forests or irrigate our river valleys.
Section 3 - Elections
1. Party members are strongly encouraged to run for government office in the hopes that we may strengthen our position as a political party, as well as present our reforms to the public in a respectable and acceptable way.
This document is subject to change at any time at the behest of the Committee.
1st Amendment to Charter concerning Slavery
That the Labor Party opposes slavery in all it's forms and will fight for the freedoms of the repressed slaves in our own nation, and in foreign nations.

Thank you Aro, hopefully more will see the light and join our righteous cause.
I'm actually looking forward to hearing Arnelos and his scathing criticisms! At least this time he has something a little more palpable to attack us with.
(ah arnelos where would we be without you!)

(Hmmm... I never should said that... I mean, "say something". He'll do this, for sure! )

'National Socialist' perhaps you are not, but heavily suggestive of the reddish-brown variety you do seem, no? "labor" and "nationalist" together... that's the very definition of "red-brown" There's no reason to be ashamed of it, though... is there?

I see... You don't like the word 'Labor', right? Don't be ashamed, Arnelos... You ARE a laborer... all that political stuff, all this diplomatic work... It's very physical!
Btw, I prefer a more subtle color, like "red-purple", or "red-lilac", something like that.
Besides that, I'm the left-wing of my party... A real commie!

Aro, it's not that I don't like "labor", I think labor is positively wonderful!
It's the collusion between labor and nationalism that is of primary interest here

Collusion? The secret activities of people who work together to do something dishonest (Macmillan English Dictionary)? Well, that is the most public conspiracy I ever seen in my life...

huh. Interesting that the Macmillan dictionary defines collusion that way. The word basically means a deceitful or unholy alliance, not necessarily one which is entirely hidden.
For instance, the Webster's definition merely states that the word invokes an agreement or cooperation for "an illegal or deceitful purpose". The alliance itself may be out in the open, but its purpose is many times the source of the disception
That's basically what I was getting at... labor (red) getting in bed with nationalism (brown) - a truly unholy alliance

I expect the Labor Party shall go through it's own 'coming-of-age' in the next month or so. As Chairman, I acknowledge that growth takes time, and ideas and policies take up time as well, to create and enact.
Aro is the left wing, I myself make up the right wing.
Everyone here IS a nationalist, be them republicans, old loyalists of the toppled monarch, or supporters of the ages-old despotism, you have no choice. Or would you prefer to defect to the Germans and become a traitor? (btw, if you should defect we'll find you later, and it won't be a pretty site....)
And everyone here is a Laborer,....

Hmm...that's ok Aro!
I would probably classify myself as a Naryshkinite, following the example of Peter the Great (hence my avatar). Hmm, I'm not russian (part ukrainian, though). Perhaps it's time for another flag change....

Good question young skywalker. yoda has taught you well.
The answer is YES, the Labor Party is absolutely opposed to drafting. Drafting causes unhappiness throughout the nation, and most Conscripts end up being fodder, which we do not agree with, either. We will not support sending inexperienced troops into battle, knowing that their odds of survival are bare to none. We don't wish to cause further grief in the hearts of Apolyton families who's sons have joined the service.
The Draft runs directly against Labor Party policy #3, which says that we only support an elite or veteran military, so that no money is wasted on average or below average (like conscripts) units.

...oh and before anyone says again that this isn't a true Labor Party, I know that. Historically Labor Parties are communist or socialist, but I'm choosing to affect history differently in our game. Since no Labor Party has existed in our game before mine, I'm in the unique position of being able declare what the Labor Party stands for, without necessarily having to be a commie or a socialist.
Just like you could call yourself a Fascist if you wanted to, and come up with an entirely different definition for it, in the fantasy world of Apolyton. Great freedom there is here in Apolyton. That's why it's the "Apolyton Labor Party". Make sense...?

Make sense to me.
I used to be a real commie - a Trotskyite, in fact, so internationalist - three decades ago. You see, we were living under a dictatorship, and so... Guys, forgive my obscure past...
Today, I'm just an humanist, I believe firmly in music, science, good wills, art, good people, literature, childhood, etc. Moreover, I believe in bad people, too. I believe firmly in protect my family and friends… I believe in compassion and pity, but I also believe in punishment, and that ALL of us were created equal (of course, some of us are more equal than others...) except that I'm a little more beautiful and clever than all of you. And, before someone else say it, older, too...
That is the fun. We don't have warmongers and builders in RL (well, we have, but that's another story), at least we don’t have Warmonger Parties or Builder Parties (Hmm… I’m not so sure about the warmonger ones...). Anyway, everybody is a warmonger, if the pressure is enough. And, with the exceptions of Palpatine and George W. Bush, everybody is a builder... under the right conditions.
I’m on the left wing of the Labor Party, just for fun. Sometimes we reproduce some aspects of RL here, and sometimes we don’t.
rp mode ON/
The compromises of the Labor Party’s Left Wing:
1st We’ll disagree of every statement, idea or speech of our estimate chairman, Mr. Meshelic. Sometimes in public, with a smile in our faces, sometimes punching his face in private.
2nd We strongly support him for the SMC office.
rp mode OFF/
See? In this case, we are reproducing exactly the behavior of the parties in RL, when we aren't looking (1st), and when we are (2nd).

And as for Aro....
RP
"Those left-wingers are a bunch of fools, riding on the coattails of the right-winged leadership that has triumphed through adversity! I say nay to the naysayers!"
Meshelic gives Aro a swift kick in the ass, followed by an "impending doom for you" look.
