auto bombard problem

I'm having some difficulties with the auto bombard function in PTW, it doesn't seem to function! I place a couple of artillery outside an enemy city, and then press auto bombard... I still have to select auto bombard for the other artillery units... Isn't the autobombard function supposed to take care of that for me??? Do I have to put them in an army to get it to work or something??

Land units seem to not auto-bombard. Planes and ships seem to work correctly. It might have to do with them stopping what they are doing when they see an enemy land unit.

No you're thinking of stack bombard, which isn't done in Civ III. The auto bombard only applies to an individual unit. Frankly I wish they had stack bombard, I think it would be more useful.

you have to turn off the wake unit on automatic units when they encounter an enemy unit in preferences, or else they wake out of out bombard every turn.
