Cities, Cities, and even more cities!!!
For those of you who want a lot of city names for each civilization....well....I have them if you want them!!!! The cities for each civilization are on standard windows notepads - one for each civilization. Just remember if you want to use them you have to use all of them; otherwise, you will have some duplicate city names and the game will probably crash. I do not know what prompted me to do all this work - guess I was bored. Anyways enjoy!
PS I am not a jerk none of these files have viruses, but you should be using an anti-virus program anyway.

Sounds good but i dont understand why it would crash!?!?

I've added a few city names myself before and it hasnt crashed when it's reached duplicate names.

I was just assuming that the game would crash if city names were duplicated, but if someone doesn't mind using duplicate names then why bother adding any new city names, but thanks for the info....and yes "files" because I have from 70 to 249 city names for each civilization and that is way too much to post here.

I think he meant where are the files?

You could probably .zip them all up and attach them here pretty easy.

Ok here is the list of cities
You are right, guess you do learn something everyday, I can attach the file here....well....I added the list and then I viewed it, unfortunately, this web site has its own idea of how an attachment should look...you couldn't tell when one city name ended and the next began because some city names are more than one word....so I dumped the attachment...if you want the list I'll e-mail it to you...just ask me.

Mind if I use some of your names in my next mod?

Did you just add 'random' cities to the end of the list? I was thinking of constructing historically accurate lists - for example, why is Orleans the 2nd city of France?? Because it is Joan's home? Bah.

Before I start, does anyone know if such an effort has already been made?

BFM: I think that there is a 'names' mod somewhere that doubles the number of cities for each civ (compared to vanilla civ 3) and some of them are very different lists, based on more historical significance I think. It also has more great leader names for wach civ. The AU mod (check the strategy forum) incorporates these data.

Thanks...I've added a ton on my own, but this will help a lot. I have to say the initial city lists given by Firaxis was a joke.

Hey FurryMonster put the cities in any order that you want and yes 100% of these cities existed within each civilization at one point in time or another...so if you want to put Orleans last on the list go for it....It was hard enough finding the names of ancient cities let alone putting them in any specific order...that part is up to you!
