Its related to your posting habits. Thats all you need to know, and about all anyone here really understands. Even after reading that thread, all 25 pages worth.

No, you get demoted to King with one PCR hit. Moderators are like Wraiths in that respect…

Taz,
The current multiplanet avatar.
But really what I want to learn is how to do it. Perferably in Paintshop pro, if not in photoshop.
Thanks for you offer, I chuckle at your avatar.

So if [i m g ]c:\tmp\xyz.gif[/ i m g ], will it not just take the http code but also grab the image, or does the image location have to be published to be available.
thanks for the clarification.

The image has to be online available. Linkiing to your hard drive will not work. Its always funny to see people try though.

Its like quantum mechanics. Most don't know what it is about, few have the maths to use it, and anyone who says they understand its reasoning is lying.

Looks like the original image needs too many colours to work well as a gif. Its come out all speckly - like my avatar. Does any proper graphics guru have any advice about this?

Taz,
That's the same problem I had. Whenever I used the magic tool it:
1- put a fuzzy border around the planets, and
2- dropped the resolution of the planets, kind of like running some unknown effect of the reminding planets.
Either effect is a NoGo for me and both is a double whammy.
I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. It sounds more like a application problem. Guess I will have to try Photoshop instead. Worst case find some new images. The problem is all the cool planet images are from space photography and all tend to the same type of problems with changing them.
I appreciate you looking at it.
Understand about 2 yr old. Our 16 mo puppy was also whinning for attention this am. Must be either the time of year or a moon phase.

There's a few problems with the image that's being used: The borders around the planets are not sharply defined and it's really pretty hard to get it to look good without the black background. Saying that, here's what I did in PSP to get what I got:
I sharpened the image (Effects -> Sharpen)
I selected the background with the wand tool, using a tolerance of 10 and a feather of 1. This should select all the various shades of black and the feathering helps make the boundaries between the planets/backgrounds not so sharp. I deleted the black, while having a grey color selected as the background. This replaces the black with a gray bg which helps it to blend in on the default style. I then used the export .gif (on the web toolbar) and selected the grey color to be used as the transparent color. Here's the result:

Thanks. I've only been working with Paintshop Pro for less than a year, too. Practice makes perfect, I guess. Here's the first real picture I attempted to do; basically sticking my head on a Bond movie poster. It took quite a long time to get it where I did, and I somehow managed to do this before I had learned to use the clone brush and retouch tools. So if I tried this again, I could probably do a better job in a third of the time that this took me.

If anyone can have a go at making my flag avatar background transparent it would be much appreciated.
I can get individual images to be tranparent, but then you can see the frames behind the transparent area in the current frame (see attached). I need to resolve that problem.
