>>The World Today<< Official PBEM Playtest
You are right, now it is time to start the PBEM playtest. Though i have to mention: any ideas, critics or whatsoever are highly welcome and recomended because this a PLAYTEST!!!
If you should find something that is not working please report it to me, i try to solve the problem(s).
Enough of that, letīs start with some information.
(1) it is highly recomended that you read the ENTIRE readme.doc file attached to the sceanrio
(2) there are 7 playable civs: Russia, Europe, USA, China, India, Muslim World, Neutral Nations, so there are 3 more players needed.
Academia, Pap1732 and Pavlov signalized their will to participate in the playtest. including me we are 4 players.
(3) has anyone of you some preferences in playing a certain civ? just leave a message here or send me a pm.
let the game begin!!!

I'll download it now to get a first impression...

Jim, there is something wrong with the events-file, and you also might want to strengthen the defence of the "rogue-states", because I was able to conquer Cuba, Iraq and Iran in 1 turn, the first turn.
And also empty the FARC-encampment.
Make those cities much stronger. I know it might not represent the real strength of the nation involved, but you should do it for making it harder for the human player.

Just gave it a try, and the first thing I tried was obviously nuking everything. Anyway, it appears that ICBMs have a range of -48, they can't move at all. The smaller nukes work.
*There are two Archangelsk in Russia. The northern one is right but the city on the Caspian should be named Astrakhan.
*Revall -> Reval
*I agree with Yop, the rogues need strengthening.
Also I have dibs on the Neutral Nations.

Got another idea: Maybe you should let some terrorists appear in Spain, to represent the ETA.
They could appear on the hill north of Madrid, or north-east of madrid.
And maybe you could put some IRA-terrorists in Northern Ireland. (if you haven't done that already ... )

The problem with the Rules.txt; improve rogue states defenses, ICBM range.... and thereīs a problem with the highway graphics.

Ah! thereīs another "graphic problem"
Inside the city... the graphic of "fire" appears instead of "pollution"
Am I making myself clear?
In the icons.gif file, you put the fire graphic in the "pollution/factories" slot

i attached the wrong icons.gif file. down there should it be.
strange is the cause about the events.txt file. on my computer it works without problems.
the ICBM should reach nearly any place on the globe. should. as i learned, units may not move further than 60 in one turn.

i have also totally rewritten the events.txt file. like i said, on my pc it worked without any errors. fascinating but not logical.
whatever. i think it would be better to post tomorrow a new today.zip file.
what about the civs and their players.
(proposal)
Neutral Nations - Pavlov
Russia - FiGu
USA - Pap1732
Europe - The Creator himself :-)
China - Academia
Muslim World - Valuk
Indian Federation - yop73
discussion, please

News from the neutrals...
*Turkey infiltrated by Iraqi soldiers! After a decisive operation the Iraqi forces were thrown back and motorized Turkish units have taken up defensive positions close to Mosul.
*Canada strikes again! After an urgent report from the CIA (Canadian Intelligence Agency ) telling of terrorists haing just arrived in the United States, president Pavlov took action. Canadian fighters managed to completely destroy a terrorist camp on the American east coast, only miles from Washington.
President Pavlov apologized for the intrusion on American soil but said that in matters of terrorism you can't let a second go to waste. [ooc: Sorry about that Pap, but after twenty minutes of going through cities and changing production I was itching for some action.]
An operative from the CIA using the latest in binocular technology
*Two neutral nations, namely Colombia and South Korea, are looking to purchase a skilled peace envoy for diplomatic missions. They are willing to pay a couple of thousand for this. And if cash is unwanted we can offer a wide array of military hardware.

Rules.txt Update!!!
ok, you havenīt mentioned this so far (i imagine):
the Airbase unit is not able to carry air units, i forgot to modifie this in the rules.txt before zipping the files. i lost a MRBM due to my incompetence
anyway, first of all: down there is a modified rules.txt file, containing not only the modifications for the airbase but also changed trading goods (i know, details. but details make the difference )

European Union elects new President!
As today was made public, Jim Panse was elected President of the European Unionīs Commission.
"My one and only goal i wish to achieve in my presidency is the 98%age integration of the European Union. I wish to create a more powerful Europe than it is nowadays to show the world that there is an alternative to the US. This is meant to be a peaceful process. I donīt want the United States to feel attacked by us Europeans. We share the same ideals, values and principals but Europe is not the United States, therefore it is our right to take a slightly different way into the future. This is meant to be achieved through peaceful Enlargement.
The US and Europe have a lot of common goals: We want to make the world safe for Human Rights, Freedom, Liberty and Democracy. That is to be mentioned. The 21st century should be the century of peace and growing prosperity to all mankind!"
Aside of this remarkable step towards more integration the Chairman of the EU, Jim Panse, announced that the EU will send reenforcements into Afghanistan to stabilize the region.
