The patch isn't working! Not enough nicotine I suppose
Well.. I downloaded a patch.. 1.29f to be exact and now evertime I go into changing the production either in the city window or right-clicking on the city and changing it on the pull down the game crashes. Now, I can't work on my saved games or even begin a new one. WHAT DO I DO??

This is my personaly thing, and most people will say that doesn't need to be done, but I do it to be safe.

You should not upgrade directly to whatever the lastest patch is from the oringinal out of the box verson.

What I do, is install the 1.16f, then 1.17f, then 1.21f and then 1.29f.

Even though 1.29f patch has all the fixes in the prior patches, it's better IMHO to go in order. IDK where you the older patches are, I'm sure someone has it online.

In theory upgrading over other patches is more prone to error. Certainly doesn't work for drivers for example. I'd try uninstalling all the patches then just installing 1.29f. It might help to try another OS. I've had similar problems under XP and 2000 but ME seems to work fine.

About 2 months ago I had to reinstall Windoze and then reinstalled Civ3. After that I only installed patch 1.29f and it works fine. Before that, I had patch 1.16f, then 1.21f, then 1.29f, but still no problems. if you have problems you should probably do a clean install, then apply only patch 1.29f.
