for Civ4 singleplayer turnless?
what would you think of firaxis programming singleplayer as some variation of turnless in the next civ game instead of turnbased. improvements would probably need to be made of course

Civ4 turnless = RoN?
Therefore Official Civ4 should only be turn based

Turnless sucks deep.
It takes the heart out of the game!
The decision making needs time!
If you make the game turnless it will result in a war-game.

ok, i cant say how turnless is in Civ3, because I've never played PtW, but based on what I've done I think turnless mode can be a good option. If you slow it down, it's almost like a normal game but without the endless WAITING. sure, simultanious moves helps the problem, but it doesn't solve it.

Turn based, please! I like to think. If I want finger cramps I play AoK of War3.

It was and is all about TBS.
It should stay so.
Next thing people will want to make a shooter out of Civ.

Nah, can already be done with Civ3... Just ask Togas and his Roleplayers crew in the PtW Demogame.

Why not make a FPS while were at it. Ooh, and we could do a flight sim, too: CIV: INTERCEPTOR.

We could make it "The Civs" and have little Abe Lincoln running around trying to earn enough money to add the West Wing onto his White House.

i havent played turnless but can easily imagine how it goes.
how would it reduce thought (if the cycles are slower and other things improved)
i find age of empires and warcraft to be without thought because it seems to me too much "just build and move" you set your buildings to build units and then just move them towards the enemy and then move them further and there isnt anything else to do.
but even in turnless there is some management of movement, the main difference is that you have to 'think on your feet'

Turnless civ would not really be civ. The civ series is all about the simple discrete math models that mesh to form a complex whole. Civ is all about knowing that if I move this citizen from this grassland to this forest I will have exactly one less food and exactly one more shield on the next turn. This type of system requires time for a human to digest. Thus, TBS only.
