Please Read: Anti-Parasite Feature
After the recent Xupiter incident, we tried to find some way to help beyond not having any ad related to such software
So, if all have gone well, our front page will inform you if you're infected with something. If you dont get any special message then i'm either an idiot and have done something wrong or you're not infected.

Note: this is only for IE users
The best(and free) removal tool for parasite is Adaware

I get nothing at all so i presume I'm OK (another ad aware user).
Is it possible to set up notification of a negative result - simply for peace of mind?
Nice feature BTW - how does it work? Doers it scan the user's HD or is it something in the IE profile?

Your browser appears to have the "Internet Explorer" parasite installed. This software can present you with unexcpected effects of monopolism and might have been designed by Microsoft. It might have been installed even though you don't even need it. Information and removal instructions.

Wow, now I have a reason to link to the mainpage. I've been going strait for the Forums for the past year.
Thanks Markos!
Now lets use Taz's suggestion, just for peace of mind, or the illusion that everything is alright.

hmph. i've been using opera now for a while, but i still had numerous parasites on my IE.....probably one of the reasons i was so desperate to find an alternative in the first place
great job mark. adaware didn't pick any of these up ( ), and after numerous dos prompts and restartings, i've managed to remove all of them.
note: even though IE's working properly now, it's still crap

To IE community (me included): Is time to change to Mozilla ( http://www.mozilla.org ) or opera ( http://www.opera.com ) browsers. Are more fast, secure and reliable than our IE. I can assure that you'll enjoy the. Try them now!!

Xarxo has the clue. I've put a good word for Mozilla every now and then when this issue comes up and I have to say that the ultimate reason for most crap related to MSIE has to do with ActiveX and also cookies if you don't enforce any strict policies. Right now I also recommend the light weight version of Mozilla's Gecko GUI; Phoenix. It's very light and it works well. Also a good choice is Mozilla 1.2.1. At least so far it's working great. If you prefer something abit more commercial, Netscape 7.01 is a good choice too. After using Opera 7 Beta for ~1 month now, I can recommend it too, but I find some of the functions abit illogical for a old Netscape/Mozilla user. However you get used to it and it works well. The only minus are the ads as the free version is adware. Also blocking any pop-ups is easier in Mozilla/Netscape, but Opera is still far better than MSIE.

I just use my hostfile (600Kb in size!) to filter out all the ad sites. Works just as well.

Not to bash panag, but everybody please ignore grc.com and Steve Gibson. He knows next to nothing about internet security. This is a proven fact. grc.com is nothing more than a cheap scam to promote Steve Gibson and his software. It is amazing how many people listen to him. Do a google search for grc or Steve Gibson and you'll quickly find a host of links to sites where the truth about Steve Gibson is "revealed".
