Adremove software proves to be dangerous?
The program is no longer being updated to handle new spyware targets. In fact, I feel that it is necessary to recommend to everyone that they simply remove Ad-aware version 5 entirely. Using it in its current, unupdated form can be, and has been proven to be dangerous.
edit: apparantly the remote site went down few hours after I posted this. Our apologies. The quote pretty much gives the whole message

Aha! I knew it! Ad-Aware has begun to deteriorate and suck donkeyballs!
Hail SpyBot: Search and Destroy!
PS: What's with Belgians and shrimps? IIRC, there's also a site called spelletjesgarnaal.be, right?

hi ,
belgians and shrimp , well huh that remains a good Q
okay guys , check on grc.com , steve gibson has a couple tricks up his sleeve when it come to spyware
the free version of adware is of course a free version , so its logical its not going to be updated every day or so , unlike its paying version , ......
have a nice day

True, but SpyBot: Search & Destroy is also free (they only ask for a donation if you like it)...and it's automatically updated all of the time. I am very, very, very happy with SpyBot - Ad-Aware has been totally removed from my system.

Ad Aware, and Popup Stopper, should be standard in use.

Using Spybot aswell. Doesn't seem to pick anything up apart from the Kazaa spyware and the standard MS 'features'. My computer is clean.

I am clean fortunately, but I only reinstalled everything last week so I would be quite annoyed if I was infected already...

Guess I'll go with you informed people. Search and destroy it will be then. I like the name better anyway. D

Hey.. that software is great.
it has eliminated all my parasites, plus some spyware that I got using imesh.
(it has also eliminated my IE cookies, but that's no problem at all)

Would the advertisers still think the pop ups are popping up even though we've blocked them?

To be honest whilst the sentiment on the t-shirt is true I'm not sure that will make it a big seller.

I hadn't noticed the ACS. That's kind of funny.
